Really cool, during high tide you have to walk through knee high water to get to the beach at the north end. Wear shoes when out of the water, there's prickers in the grass that really dig in.

the northern part of the park Fort De Soto is very quiet and private equipped with grills and public bathrooms there are tables for picnicks and large trees that ensure a pleasant shade, very interesting also as a fishing area when here is not allowed to swim,a wild part of the park to discover

Beautiful beach! Be prepared for a hike from the parking lot to the beach. You have to cross water to get there, so be prepared. It was easier during low tide for sure. Not a lot of whole shells, but it was midday on a sunny day.

I'd only been to Fort DeSoto once before, to walk around the historic fort. This day, we met friends for cooking out and beach time. Our party brought our own small grill. We saw that others had done the same. The shelters with their grills were all reserved, so unless you can get a reservation, bringing your own grill is probably a good idea. We didn't go to any of the snack bars. Driving all the way to the north end of the park turned out to be a good idea. All of the parking lots we passed seemed to be pretty full, but at the north end there was plenty of parking. Getting there around lunch time was good, too, sort of in between the early morning crowd and the afternoon to sunset crowd. A nice thing here is that the dunes are very low, so you can see the water even from the picnic areas.

You can fish from the pier w/out a liscence, but thats it.
The area would accomodate a 27 foot RV, with a little room to spare. It wohld brush up against some of the limbs, but should fit pretty good. If it is larger than 27', you could park across the street in the big lot. You probably won't be able to get anything larger inside of Arrowhead Picnic Area. This is just a guess, based on what I've seen.
