I was a 4 time traveler when this year I traveled to Spain and Portugal. It was a difficult trip with problems going over and returning to the states. I had paid OAT to purchase all related items e.g. plane tickets and travel insurance. I ended up having to purchase another ticket to return home from Portugal. OAT personnel told me I had purchased a non refundable ticket. OAT bought the ticket and didn't notify United when I tested positive for COVID and was quarantined. I found out the truth from United when I arrived home. The cost of the return ticket was over a thousand dollars. I filed insurance claim with Allianz on return to the states June 14th - still no response and when you call Allianz transfers me to OAT as they purchased the insurance - the cost of the policy was over a thousand dollars. I was also told they would process my claim within 30 days. Am now at 2 month mark. I do not intend to use the company again, because they do not take responsibility for their part, they have no direct numbers unless of course you are buying something. All is good until it isn't. When it doesn't go as promised, you find the real nature of a business. Joanne - 4 time traveler - there will not be a 5th time.

We had a great experience on an OAT trip in early 2020, right before COVID. However, since then, trying to communicate with them is a nightmare. We have funds on deposits, need to make changes or cancellations, and can't get through to them. I've waited up to two hours and can't talk to anyone. Emails are not answered. I even sent a letter, registered mail, to cancel a trip and got no response. You can't do any online activity such as making a reservation, can't get anyone on the phone, and they don't respond to emails. It makes me wonder if I want to travel with a company that operates this way. If I could get my deposit back, I think I"d cancel altogether and go with Road Scholar, but they won't give me a refund despite their incredibly poor service.

I have never written a review before so you must know how over the top frustrated I am. This will be my 3rd trip with OAT and I am utterly disappointed and discussed with the customer service. I recommended the trip to a new OAT traveler, as well, and between the 2 of us we have been on hold for 19 hours while trying to work at the same time. We have questions and need clarification after the deposit and the deadline for the offer is fast approaching. I really loved my last 2 trips with OAT but will have to reconsider future trips with them. Is talking to a human being too much to ask! This is way too stressful for something that is supposed to be enjoyable!!

Absolutely atrocious customer service. The whole point of a travel agency is to remove the stress and hassle of travel. I have spent a total of 9 hours on hold this week trying to change my airfare for my upcoming trip - the other day I was on hold for 3h 15 min until an automated message told me I’d reached the maximum hold time and would be disconnected. It said someone would contact me within 24 hours - no one did. If you travel with OAT they will take your money and then ignore you. I have not left for the trip yet so I can’t even comment on that part, but this is a pretty atrocious and very stressful start. Their trips are expensive enough that they should hire more people to field calls. Do not go bother with OAT. Choose an agency that actually cares.

I have a friend Cindy Steinberg who is traveling with your company in New Zealand. I am hoping you can confirm that she is alright and was hopefully not near the volcano eruption. Thanks you.

Nan, it's thoughtful of you to check in on your friend. We do not have any travelers in the vicinity of the volcanic eruption; it occurred on an island far north of Rotorua, the closest point any of our travelers would reach.

Ive done 6 trips in all with Grand Circle/Overseas Adventure Travel. They have been fantastic, and their customer service is very knowledgeable. Maybe give them a call at their 1 800 number and find out. I think Galapagos may be an optional extension.

You should call overseas adventure travel's customer service number. I doubt anyone on google can solve that problem for you.
