I like my apartment itself, which is super quiet. The landscaping of the complex is beautiful. My apartment is modern. Downsides - only one out of two pools was open last year, and it was only open for two weeks. The pools are not open this year yet, even though it’s June. The newly built gym isn’t open past 5 PM due to equipment failure, and is closed entirely on Sundays. People prop open the emergency exit doors to my apartment complex constantly, which makes me feel unsafe. Clothing dryers don’t work well - I have to run my cotton clothes 2 - 3x to get them dry, which costs extra $$$. —- Update! The pool has just opened for the summer, and I feel like I left off some of the wonderful things here: 1. Super fast repairs. When I have called maintenance, the problem was fixed pronto. There is an emergency repair phone number and 24 hour repair maintenance phone number to call. Staff are really polite when fielding the maintenance requests. 2. Walk in closet and two bathrooms in my apartment. 3. Trash chute on my floor. 4. Extremely quiet apartment, but I am on the top floor. I hear no noise from the walls of my apartment where others are next door to me. 5. Security at the complex is amazing and the officers are very personable and upbeat. —-I will post some more later!

I really don’t understand the negative reviews for this complex. I’ve been living at Oak Hill for almost two years now and it’s been a wonderful experience. To start, the leasing staff are so pleasant to work with. As college students, the process was stressful and confusing to us. But Andre was so helpful and communicative that we felt confident in our application. My roommates and I have lived in two different places within the complex. We went from a building to a townhouse to accommodate another roommate. Both of the buildings were really nice and our neighbors were never an issue. In our first building, the building captain, Leroy, was like a guardian and took care of everyone in the building. Plus, our townhouse is spectacular, with a view over the city and a new kitchen. Maintenance has always been super responsive and the managers are easy to contact. Most importantly, we feel super safe! The complex has invested resources into security, and as a female I feel safe walking around at night coming home from campus. In addition, there are a ton of bus stops so if you’re a student and you don’t want to walk up the hill you don’t have to! Overall, my housemates and I have had a wonderful experience here. We plan to stay until we graduate from school and we’ve recommended the place to our friends who are apartment hunting. Definitely check it out in your apartment searches!

I was little worried before moving here because of the rating but then I visited the community and I was pleased to see that things are not the way they are reflected through its low rating. I have been here for about 3 months now and my experience has been good. Firstly, the leasing staff was very friendly and helpful. Fortunately, I moved into the newest building and the apartment is so well made. It has a new look unlike most of the apartments you find in Pittsburgh. Secondly, if someone does not have a car, that is not a problem because the bus comes inside the community and have a stop outside my building. The only issue I faced was slow maintenance service. It took a time to fix a small thing like bathroom door lock. I think that needs improvement. There is a gym but it is really small and although I have separate gym membership, to have a decent size gym in the community would be nice.

I lived for close to one year at Oak Hill Apartments. My overall experience was okay at this place. A few pros and cons: - It is pricey unless you are eligible for Section 8 (low income housing) as the majority of current residents are. - If you live at the south side of the residential (close to the management office), you'll hear the train honking sound 24/7. - My worst experience was with the maintenance whose first and ultimate goal is to deny that you have a problem! - You have no storage room and there is no indoor/garage parking. - Complex has nice gym and two swimming pools. - It is close to the U Pitt and bus station. - Apartments are very clean and relatively newly built. You have A/C inside the apartments (if that works properly :) ) and laundry is usually in the basement working with chargeable cards. - Elevator is a big plus in each building, particularly if you live on the upper levels. - Leasing office staff are very nice. Receptionist at the management office can work more on being helpful and friendly! The complex manager is very friendly, respectful, and cares about your concerns.

Yes and no. The elevators seem to need constant repair and the buzzers don’t work so handicap people should never live on anything but the ground floor here or they may end up stuck.
