Excellent customer service. Watch out only open Wednesday to Saturday! 9-3-2022 Scott and his team went beyond dealer requirements. I believe this bike I chose has engineering challenges from factory yet to be solved. BUT this team showed me how to work within bike's limitations. Remember if you buy a Chevy it's not a well equipped Porsche!

This is an incredible family business run by good people who have the utmost in respect for and patience with their customers. Last year, they helped me to purchase a very un-cheap recumbent trike from Germany, customized with all the bells and whistles to include a Rohloff Hub and Shimano Steps EP8 pedal assist. Every step of the way, the Barrows' were communicative about the next steps and transparent about all the costs associated with purchasing my recumbent. When I ordered it, I dealt mostly with Sarah, who did a lot of legwork in getting the customizations, delivery dates, and keeping me informed from order (January 2021) to delivery (June 2021, you may remember how COVID messed up the bike-delivery pipeline.) When I came in to take the bike home, Scott was very thorough in fitting the bike to me, as well as making sure I knew how to shift with a Rohloff and use the bike's computer to change assist levels. In fact, he even rode around Marietta with me to make sure I got the hang of it before I left to take my bike home. One thing I learned in this process is that paying for the first year tune-up at time of purchase is an extremely important part of your recumbent's longevity. To be quite honest, because of how far I live from the business (three and a half hours with no traffic if I don't so much as stop for a pee break) I probably wouldn't have brought it in for a tune-up. Because I had already paid for it, I brought it in, and I got to see all of the cool stuff they do to keep the bike running optimally, I became cognizant of the computer printout that shows health, use, and status of the bike and its components, and they even upgraded all the software and firmware for me. It helps you to realize how important these tune-ups are. It's not the most convenient thing to have to go that far for a tune-up, but they were all flexible and accommodated me on their busiest day to get this done. It greatly improves the chance that I shall return for next year's tune-up when I actually have to pay for the darn thing. I also appreciated that Scott was able to get some things fixed that I broke, like the telescoping pole that the flag sits on - he was able to fix that somehow, as well as get one of the rear mudguards/wheel well covers (whatever it's called, I don't know) back on and replaced the screw that got lost on the trail when it fell off. The bike is now in tip-top shape and I'm back on the trail getting my health in order. Thank you, Scott, Diane, Sarah, and Rosie! See you next year!

Anyone interested in exploring recumbent bikes should check out Lancaster Recumbent! After double knee replacement surgery and now-imperfect balance ruled out standard bikes, we are delighted to have found a way to enjoy cycling again -- and in comfort and style. Sarah's great customer service throughout our test ride a few months ago and a later recumbent trike purchase was informative and reassuring (we've never bought a recumbent bike before). It's a family-run business, and we interacted with everyone -- from during reviewing bike options and the detailed 'fitting' to exploring accessories and ideas for local trails. As recumbent 'newbies' we left feeling confident and excited to ride our new 'bent bike. Lancaster Recumbent is highly recommended!

This is the best recumbent Trike Shop around. I've been to the others within a 4 hour radius. This shop has the best sales, service and selection. Also, there is a great hill for getting a good idea of powered trike ability to climb hills. Also, there is an excellent trail within a few blocks, so you can ride from the shop to the trail. Do not hesitate in visiting the best shop around. They are excellent!

Questions & Answers

Hi folks. Do you have Sun recumbent trikes for sale at your store? I'd like to be sure before traveling 1.5 hours to your store. Thank you.

Hi Nancy, Thanks for your question. We do not stock Sun bikes or trikes at our shop but we can special order one for you (assuming they are in-stock at the distributor). You can also check https://sun.bike/pages/store-locator to search for a Sun retailer near your zip code. Take care!

Is it possible to ride a recumbent when one leg is weaker than the other? Is there a way, other than toe clamps to keep the weaker leg engaged in peddling? Also, how do you transport a recumbent in/on an SUV (Nissan Murano)? Thanks.

Hi Steve... I've had three left knee replacements. The first was in 2011 and the third was in May, 2019. My left leg is definitely weaker and atrophied compared to my right leg. Lancaster Recumbent (Scott Barrows) was able to set up my trike by shortening the left pedal due to the fact that my left knee doesn't have the flexion or extension as my right knee. There are pedals that come with straps for keeping your foot on the pedals. I personally use a bicycle shoe with Shimano SPD clips to keep my feet attached to the pedals. As for transporting a recumbent trike, there are racks, for example, like Hitch Ryder, and even platform racks that you can purchase for your trike. When we bought our 2015 Ford Escape, we had a hitch installed with wiring for trailering, etc. Also, many trikes can be folded and fit into an SUV with the back seat down... Cool. I hope this helps. If you have anymore, just ask.

Is it possible to have a one-handed recumbent bike?

Hi Nancy! Yes it is.

Do you sell stationary exercise bicycles?

Hi Earl, No, we don't; however, we do sell recumbent cycles that you can put on a trainer during winter/ rainy months to ride indoors. Just something to think about if you wanted both indoor and outdoor utility. As for stationary exercise bikes, you could try Martin's Bike shop in Hinkletown (https://martinsbike.com/fitness_equipment/). Good luck with your search! Lancaster Recumbent
