Hiked the Weathersfield Trail it was challenging with a few scrambles... not great for young kids

Excellent park! Love that they took the time to post someone at the mountain parking lot as a nature educator. Staff was friendly and polite. Views were great, when the weather allowed it.

We took the toll road to the highest parking lot and then took the slab trail to the observation tower. Entry was $4 per adult and the employees were all very nice. The road is very narrow and allows both bicycles and cars which is a little bit scary in my opinion with how steep and curvy it is. The way down also made me nervous because of all the curves. My brakes were smoking by the end even with being in low gear and trying not to ride the brakes (but my car is also 10 years old), so make sure your car is in good shape before you go. But compared to other similar roads, this one has trees on either side the whole way so it is nice if you don’t want to feel like you could just drive off the edge. The slab trail was challenging but short and the observation tower is very cool (definitely scary if you are afraid of heights though).

The views from the summit were a bit underwhelming but the west peak took our breaths away!

Yes, it's a very dog friendly place!!!
The tower is about 50 ft off the ground
The tower is about 20-25ft. Tall enough to allow you to see over the tops of all the trees
Its a State Park, camping, hiking. You pay $4 a person drive to top then hike or pinic. Nice views. Summer only.
