This is really a 3.5 star review as opposed to a 4 star. But I’ll allow the 4 to stand. For the area, eating establishments are not abundant. So in that respect, Buddylou’s is the nicest restaurant establishment for the area in terms of location/proximity to downtown Hancock; proximity to the Civil War and Western Maryland Rail Trail; ambiance; and a departure from the few fast food restaurants in the vicinity. The menu seems to made up mostly of sandwiches and burgers, with a handful of substantial meal options on the side. I wasn’t impressed with their crab cakes and not particularly fond that the lobster meat in my lobster roll was minced very finely. It wasn’t a bad sandwich but it wasn’t my favorite—especially at the $19 price point I believe I paid. I am aware they have had staffing issues for a while now. That tends to affect their hours. And as a former waitress, I can totally empathize with the issues that come with being short staffed. But until those staffing issues get worked out, you will have to come prepared to be exceptionally patient and forgiving if the service feels a little inattentive or slow at times. This is one of those places you come to “slow down” for a spell and take in the scenery, and cheer for the one lone waitress trying to get everyone’s order right.

My wife had scoped this spot out during a recent road trip to DC. It's a bit off the interstate, but lots of antique décor, super friendly staff, and good food. Parking can be found either in the adjacent lot or on the street. Spot is kid friendly and they had a high chair for our toddler. For food we shared the famous crab fries and the crab cake sandwich. When in Maryland, am I right? Overall it was pretty good. I think my only wish was that the fries came out more crispy. Other than that the crab meat was plentiful and seasonings and tarter sauce did not disappoint. 'Til next time, cheers!

We took a bike ride 10 miles, stopped to eat, and road back. We only ordered the Mac n cheese and a few drinks. This place is great for a quick break. The staff was helpful and the location is right off of the trail. We will definitely be coming back.

We had a very enjoyable lunch at Buddy Lou's while on a visit to Hancock. We had the Fried Green Tomatoes ($10.00), Fried Bologna Sandwich ($12.00), and Mac & Cheese ($6.00). We liked the Bottled Pink Lemonade ($3.25 per bottle). The …

Yes. There was a small dog in a special backpack at the next table this weekend. The staff even brought a small bowl of water for it.
I would recommend calling Buddy Lous and asking.
The food was good. They were short staffed
No but the Sunday Brunch is worth the trip. Homemade quiche , French toast with cinnamon and walnuts can serve two people easily, huge menu.
