I rarely give out 5 star reviews, but I would have rated this as a 4.5 if I could. This is a spiritual place for radio nerds!

Fantastic service! Having recently passed my General exam, I stopped in earlier this week to look at various HF transceiver and antenna options. Joe M provided great insights to the pros and cons of each and me identify my next big purchases...from HRO to be sure.

Update: The team was able to leave my order outside the store so I could pick it up after hours the next day. I still had to retake the required COVID test and get to Canada a day later, but they did do their best to remedy the situation. Much appreciated. Original review: I drove over 200 miles to get here from Albany, NY after asking them to wait about ten minutes after close to sell me two items I need to have before I head to Canada. They didn't even call to tell me that they couldn't stay as long as promised. I arrived about seven minutes after close to find the place dark and locked. I wouldn't have needed to come out to this HRO if the one in Woodbridge, VA hadn't forgotten to put the 50 ft of coax that they charged me for into the bag when I checked out several days ago as well as selling me the incorrect type of mobile mount. This has been quite a frustrating experience.

Was on my way back from a weeks vacation in Maine and decided to go through NH and stop at HRO to buy a new mag mount dual band antenna and see what they had in person. I have ordered on-line from them in the past. They were closed to walk in shopping, but called them and they said I could still order online or if I told them on the phone what I needed / looking for, catalog part numbers they could tell right then if they had it in the store that I could have it delivered to me curb side. While there two other people walked up, they drove 3 1/2 hrs and seen that no in store shopping was allowed, because of the pandemic. I told them what the man on the phone told me, believe his name was Steve when I called the store. I put in my order and they had all the things I was looking for and brought them right out and payed the bill. The 2 other people also put in their order when the man brought out my order and we're happy that I told them about calling the store. They people / staff at HRO were very helpful, kind, and very customer friendly and thank them for the service / job they did. Recommend this place to any HAMS out there. Business / job well done to the HRO in Salem, NH

Not sure I understand the question.

Do you get many hf amplifiers for sale?? I'm looking for something around 600 watts for a reasonable price. Ebay is just rediculous and over priced most of the time. Thanks Doug S N1SHU.

Hi Doug. Yes, we sell HF amplifiers. I suggest you go to the HRO website and use the advanced search feature at the top of the page and choose the "Amplifier" category. You can further refine your search from there. This search will give you new and any used or open box amps that we have. HF amplifiers are not cheap! http://www.hamradio.com

Do you install CB Radios? I have a CB in a 2019 F150. I ran the antenna but couldn't find power. I literally just need power. Would ya'll be able to help with this,10-4?

We do not install radios. We're also not a CB shop, though we do sell a limited quantity of CB gear. Getting power to your radio is always a challenge, however, what most hams do is go direct to the vehicle's battery. We run a suitably sized power wire from the battery, through the firewall (there are usually holes already in it which may be sealed with rubber grommets), keeping the end with fuses close to the battery, and go direct to the radio. We may have to pull the carpet down inside the cab to find a way of routing the cable up to the radio. As Aaron also said, a car stereo shop or a mobile radio installation shop may be able to help or offer more advice. Good luck!

Can you tune and or program my breach gmrs 50x1 radio???

Haven Newsome | Sep 5, 2021
Ham Radio Outlet | Sep 5, 2021

The particular brand of GMRS radio that you have (I assume you meant to type BTECH) is not an item Ham Radio Outlet sells, so we would likely be unable to program it for you. A quick Google search suggests that it can be programmed using the CHIRP software (https://bit.ly/35DWuDd). A review of this radio says it comes pre-programmed from the factory, however.

What is a good notebook computer that will run FT8 on an IC-7300. Am looking for a fairly cheap notebook that will just be used for ham radio programs, i.e. FT-8, logging, etc.

Asus makes a decent laptop that's sub $200 at the big box stores. No need to deck out on memory or processor specs if all you're doing is FT8. A recent Celeron processor is more than capable. I've been running many digital modes on computers as small as a raspberry pi.

Calling is best, though you can search for a product on their website and also find which stores have it in stock.

I have an old FT 980. It works, but there are some issues with stability. Do you have anyone available that can troubleshoot the tranceiver and make repairs?

I believe they still do repairs. In general they are a great company to deal with. If you call them I bet they either take it in directly or know who will. Their may or may not monitor this venue.
