The Houghton Physical Therapy staff are top notch! From the time that I scheduled my first appointment, everyone was exceedingly polite and caring. My interaction with two of the physical therapists, Sharon and Andrew, helped me better appreciate the benefits that I would gain from consistently applying the exercises tailored specifically for my needs. They were knowledgeable, kind, considerate, personable and motivating! Also, at the front desk, I found the staff, such as January and Heather, likewise to be very kind, personable and accommodating! It was an overall excellent experience!! When needed, I will seek their services again.

Alex listened to my concerns and was able to tailor exercises to my specific area of concern and pain. He always took the time to explain the reason for the specific exercises. Alex and Adam never made me feel rushed. I appreciated that I was able to work on my own and at my own pace. I am well on my way to being completely pain free, and able to resume activities without pain. Continuing with my home exercises will only help to reinforce this. Yes I would recommend Houghton Physical Therapy. Friendly, professional staff.

I had a great experience here and great results working with Sharon and Adam on improving strength to prevent recurrence of a knee injury. Everyone I interacted with there was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. They were able to explain how to do the exercises and why I needed them, and I’m glad to have that knowledge going forward. If I need more PT in the future I will definitely return here. I was able to schedule convenient appointments so I never had to miss work. The office is clean, spacious, easy to get to and has plenty of parking. The front desk staff are helpful and friendly.

Want a knowledgeable, dedicated, sincere team helping you in your recovery? This is the place. I recently completed my sessions for a second injury and I went back because they care. As they helped me with my knee the first time so they did with my broken ankle and I could not be more grateful. From the moment you walk you you're greeted by the most lovely receptionists that just make your day. Linda and Linda are always on top of their game. Not to mention the actual therapists themselves; Alex, I cannot begin to express my gratefulness. You are a blessing and I'm sure you'll continue to bless other people with your expertise, sincere attention and committed dedication. Adam, I appreciate all the painful massages that got me to where I am now! Better than ever and doing my homework with my exercises just like you taught me. Did not forget about Jasmin offering undivided attention and skill in helping me on my road to complete recovery. This is the team you're looking for. Don't leave your recovery to just anyone out there. I hope I don't get hurt again but if I do, I'm heading back :) Thank you!

Questions & Answers

I have been having this nagging neck pain. It goes down my shoulder and sometimes aches on the upper back area. I try rolling it out and going for massages, but it seems to only temporarily fix it. Should I try physical therapy?

Physical therapy is one of the best methods for treating neck pain. At Houghton Physical Therapy, our physical therapists will conduct an initial physical evaluation to analyze the range of motion in your neck, as well as any limitations you have due to your pain.Treatments for your neck pain will most likely include manual or “hands-on” therapy, which consists of special techniques designed to reduce the stiffness of your neck and improve its range of motion. Our physical therapists will also provide you with targeted exercises that will strengthen, build, and improve the muscles and tissues in your neck. Life is too short to live with nagging pain. Physical therapy is not meant to hurt, but to relieve pain. However, as you restore your mobility, pain levels, at times can fluctuate. You might experience some temporary soreness from using muscles that are weakened or recovering. This is a normal response to therapy treatment. Good communication with your therapist will help minimize any discomfort. We want you on your way to quick pain relief and back to normal activities. Call the office if you feel a therapy session gave you a bit of pain. We want to relieve that pain as soon as possible or assist you by phone with some helpful tips from one of our experienced therapists.

We will give you a recovery plan so you will know how much time you'll need to devote to therapy every week so you can plan your other activities around them. The PT should give you an estimated time frame and a recommended frequency of weekly sessions based on your condition and goals. We usually see patients on an average of 12 visits and 1-3x per week. The duration of your plan of care ultimately depends on the severity of your injury and the dedication you put in to your treatment plan.
