My husband's family have been going here since they were kids. This was our 6 month old Sierra first trip to RDC! We love "glamping!" Our 1 complaint was the food this year. We've been in the past and the food has been excellent! This year the food was so so.. they moved their food service in house and still have some growing pains to work out! Also in years past the gluten free selection was better.. had fantastic GF desserts.. this year the only GF dessert other than Ice cream were macaroons that were FANTASTIC but were only served one day!! I'd love to see the food service improved bc this is such a fantastic place to take your family!

Wonderful place to stay for a week. Cabins are quaint. Easy lake access. Food is inconsistent. Usually is quite good, but not great. maybe fewer meat entree selections?

We’ve been going to RDC for more than a decade and it’s one of our family’s great highlights of the year. The cabins are rustic but grand, the staff couldn’t be nicer, and the setting is absolutely beautiful. Our kids and other friends have loved being there, and we end each summer there eager to return next year. (The food’s maybe not the most fantastic, but it’s totally good and fine and there’s plenty of ice cream.)

The RDCs are good for people of all ages. Lots of families with small children. Have fun.
Verizon cell service works well at RDC. We have an extensive WiFi network, however it is better in some areas than others. The WiFi signal does not work well through screen porches, so it may be better outside the cottage.
Yes it's all on the site. Look under lodging. Cabins are allocated on "seniority be aware. Ie, if you request the same cabin as someone who has been coming 25 years (common) the higher seniority gets the cabin. Cabin requests are made February 15th these days. So you make you top 3 or 5 choices . Usually the director will reach out to you when they get to say first year visitors and go through what's available. If you leave a message they will call you back. I would recommend getting in touch even as thorough as the web site is. It's an amazing experience especially if you have children. Friends are made there that last generations. Good luck!
