Went there for houseplants so this rating is strictly for houseplant selection. They had a decent selection of plants. Quality was ok. Prices were very high compared to other nurseries and locally owned plant shops in the berkshires and quality was not as good, lots of plants wilting, or sickly looking. They do have a nice selection of Hoyas which are reasonably priced, but everything else was about 10-50$ more than other small nurseries/plant shops. They did have a nice selection of pots also which were reasonably priced.

Some of the nicest staff I've ever experienced in an outdoor store. Whether it's a holiday tree a plant or a question everyone at this place is a thoughtful considerate professional who offers only the best genuine advice to help you make a decision for your gardening needs Boy have I bored these people to death with some of these questions I ask. Thanks words for always being there for my greenery shrubbery and gardening needs we rely on you and appreciate everything you do to run such a economically thoughtful professional operation

Ward’s has supplied the shrubs for the new Pittsfield Beautiful gardens at The Colonial Theater, Courthouse, Redding Park, and Summer Street. The shrubs are healthy, strong, and full plus the folks at Ward’s have been most helpful and accommodating. Great place and wonderful staff.

Hi Suky. Yes! We have a spot for dropping CONTAINERS for recycling. Please knock out as much dirt as possible and when you bring them to the store (8am-6pm), please try to put them with 'like' containers. We sort and reuse what we can and are in the process of confirming our hauler will take them for recycling. Pots for recycling are accumulating across from the shed, deep into our parking lot (and before you go around to loading). Just containers and plastic flats please. No tags or other plastic. We will be closed for Memorial Day, Monday May 27.
We have a few. I can get a list to you tomorrow. Monday 6/29/20: We have a Juniper, Schefflera (2) and Ficus (2). They are $49.95 each.
Yes. Hanging baskets of Million Bells are currently available for 34.95 per 10" basket or 49.95 per 12" basket.
Marcia, we have Colorado blue spruce -Picea pungens glauca - currently in 3 gal containers for 59.95 each. Height is about 2 feet in the ground, I believe. Larger 5-6ft are also available from our holding yard for $399. If the larger size is of interest , we can have some brought up for you to see at the store by mid-week.
Lynwood gold is the variety of forsythia sold at Ward's. Not sure of the availability today. Stop by! We have many spring blooming shrubs!
Masks are required. High touch areas are sanitized throughout the day. Number of patrons at one time is limited
There have been a few. They come and go quickly.
Might want to clarify your question to enable someone to properly assist you
Yes- we offer this perennial-- Brunnera 'Jack Frost'. I'll double check in the morning that it is available now, but probably! And I'll snag one too! I love the non-invasive forget-me-not flowers over sturdy foliage but don't have one yet in my garden.
Hi Fran. Likely the soil is compacted clay so grass has a hard time rooting. It is also probably too acidic and adding lime could help. First do a soil test. We have pH soil test kits here or you could bring it to us to do on Saturday May 18 OR you could send a sample to the UMass Extension (instructions here: https://wardsnursery.com/soil-testing/ ) The soil should be aerated, (maybe limed as indicated by the results from a soil test) and then amended with a thin layer of compost. Compost has a mixed size of soil particles that allows grass roots to get air and water without getting pinched or flooded. You should consider renting a 'corer', a type of roller that pulls soil cores and opens holes in the packed mud areas. Next spread your lime if necessary and then spread compost over the top of the lawn areas- 1/4" deep is enough. Then spread a fresh grass seed mix labeled for the growing conditions. We offer Jonathan Green for Dense Shade, Sun and Shade or Full Sun.
Hello. Our most popular apple trees are in 7 gallon containers because of the easy-to-transport and plant size. We have a few espalier, too. I'll let you know varieties available tomorrow. One is $79.95 but if you buy 3 of any 7gal fruit tree, you'll save 20%. More tomorrow. As of April 18, Apple trees in 7 gal containers available are: Braeburn, Cortland, Cox's Orange Pippin, Empire, Gala,Ginger Gold, Honeycrisp, Jonagold, Macoun, McIntosh, Pound Sweet, Yellow Transparent, and the edible Crabapple: Whitney. The espalier are $199 and have three varieties grafted together: Gravenstein, Yellow Delicious and Yellow Transparent. For detailed information on these varieties including harvest time and pollination requirements, see our suppliers website: http://www.hollybrookorchards.com
You might give Ward's a call to find out.
Yes we do. Find them in the fertilizer section just to the left as you enter the garden center building and across from the customer service desk.
Hello- yes, we have Acer palmatum and Acer palmatum dissectum, red selections. Prices range from $99 to $899. The Acer palmatum dissectum are currently on sale at 20% off!
Hello. Sorry we don't usually offer this. It would be on our unusual annual table. I'll check with Greg about adding it to our spring 2019 orders. I don't see it offered by our New England wholesale nurseries. You might try online. It looks very cool! Sincerely, Jodi at Ward's Nursery & Garden Center
Can you sell 3 Norway spruces 10' high. How much does it costs including instillation ?
Ward's has many varieties of vegetable and flower seeds still available and suitable to sow directly in the garden.
