*NOT FOR COLORED KIDS* This is my sons second season flag football at highland park church sports and I can honestly say the program is going downhill! I thought this was a great place for my 4 year old to grow his talent but it’s not when you’re of color. Every week the other teams are forfeiting because of the talent of his team(majority colored kids). Every game we have to wait 15 to 20 minutes for a ref for the game and for the game to be called 15 minutes prior to the scheduled ending because the opposing team is upset that our team is passing and scoring more than them. While watching another game in the same 3-4 division after our game the coach is yelling and swearing in front of the youth players at this highland park church affiliated flag football game. We were also approached and asked “why are YALL here”? and “take your kids to another league” indicating this is a whites only league. The athletic director, David allows this and has no solution he says to me “well what do you want me to do? I can’t make them play your team” now our season is over because of how hard our kids have worked to earn and win their title and we’re out of $90. We’ve only had 6 games this season 2 of which were called early and 3 that were started late due to there being no ref. 1 game there was no ref at all. So no memories of playoff games or even chance at super bowl trophy for my 4 YEAR OLD all because him and his team have worked really hard to learn and play the game.They also do not do refunds so I currently have a “credit” for another season when my black kid is not wanted or able to play a full schedule this season at highland park church and it sucks!

My Church. You need to go here at least once. I watched a Sunday service and found out they were doing a community cleanup the next saturday and went to help. Thats how much I loved this church. They do so much stuff for local kids and local teens and have so many different specialized programs for adults from marriage counseling to substancd issues. They even have licensed counselors on staff. Everything needed to love Jesus is here. The services are laid out so well and are always based on like a 4 or 6 week program or something of the same. Jesus is alive here. Go see him.
