An absolutely beautiful area. Took some beautiful pictures...some of which are going to be made into large prints and framed to hang on our walls...

Lake Woodruff is a hidden gem, a national wildlife refuge that is so beautiful. It's peaceful, quiet, and a great place to see real Florida. The grass and wetlands are full of life. So many birds, fish, and gators. Don't take pets or little kids as the path has water on both sides, and lots of gators in thier habitat. Great walk with older kids. The audobon lookout is a great midway point in the big loop. We went today and saw a family of Sandhill cranes (that let us get really close) , a red shoulder Hawk, gators, turtles, fish and so much flora. Really enjoyed it with our 10 and 12 year old.

Awesome spot my son and I were lucky enough to discover while we were on the hunt for a pair of wings from wings of the west. We spotted our very first alligator here after living in Florida for two years now! Little too close for comfort, but it didn’t bother us one bit. I also walked very quickly and didn’t tempt it;) We will be back to explore more of the area soon!

Beautiful place to walk, see nature, watch a sunset! There are very well-maintained hiking trails throughout. You can easily do 3-4 miles while looking out over canals and at some points the entire Lake. Birds abound, Gators are frequently visible, and you can sometimes see glimpses of otters. The gate closes at Sunset, but it opens from the inside so you can't get trapped. Awesome place!
