"Sir, leave the area NOW!!! This is for authorized personell only!" That is the kind of reception all visitors get at this facility who don't look like on-duty medical staff, travelling professionals at work, or VA patients.

Is the VA giving covid19 vaccine shots to veterans? If so, where and when?

James Winkley | Sep 5, 2021
kevin neal | Sep 5, 2021

I believe that the VA has done at least one covid-19 vaccine in lee county. I am sure that they will contact the people that are most vulnerable first. I saw what I took to be a vacation happening two weeks ago there. Police were directing traffic there. I was asked if I had an appointment, which I said yes but that was for a Doctor's visit. Only after wards I made the connection. I have faith that we will be called for an appointment in the future.

I am coming from a Long Island VA Hospital and moving to Florida, who do I speak to for getting medical service in the Cape Coral VA facility?

Dave Robbins | Sep 5, 2020
Will Kistler | Sep 5, 2020

You are better off staying in Long Island dude. Bay Pines VA is awful. I came from Denver to here and during season you care will be slower than watching water turn to ice at 75 degree weather. All these snowbirds that come here only half the year and use our VA which is a massive bummer if uou live here full time. If you have to move here we are in the Bay Pines VA system that is based out St. Petersburg, Florida when I came and I just showed up and I got switched. They kept sending mail to Denver forever even though I told them 6 times I moved. Make sure you call every part of the VA and tell them you moved they DO NOT talk to each other. Good luck man I hope you have a better experience than me and all of my friends who have been usinh our system.

Call and ask for patients advocate

do they have an oncology department

Vincie Mattson | Sep 6, 2019
Nina Morales | Sep 6, 2019

Yes, Oncology is up in St. Pete at the VA Bay Pines hospital, however, sadly, there is not an oncology department at the Cape Coral facility. Yet, however, under some circumstances, a veteran may use a local provider and the VA would pay for services. Florida Cancer Specialist who has a location down the street from the Cape Coral VA may be an option that is worth looking into. Hope this information helps. Have a great day !
