April 2015 I made a frantic call to The Palms PRAYING they had a room in memory care AND assisted living for my mom and dad, truly a miracle they did! I knew in my heart then, we were in the right place. Married 56 years, mom diagnosed with dementia sent dad into a mental mess. Not wanting to separate them was our goal and The Palms made it happen! Mom lived a couple years down in memory care and dad is still on 5th floor assisted living. The staff on both floors were so good at keeping them “ together “ as much as possible. During this time of Covid the staff has gone above and beyond, we his family are so very grateful for the wonderful staff, service, and true concern for his well being. This has been difficult for all of us and they have taken the concern of his well being off of our minds. We know he is safe!!!! I tell everyone The Palms is the BEST! If I’m ever in need, it’s where I’d like to live! Thank you Elaine the front desk guru! Odille, a kind gentle soul! Denise, a great caring “Dr”, Diana and Laura for getting us in! Elaine on 5th, for loving my daddy! Everyone deserves a raise for handling the pandemic so professionally!

My dad recently encountered the beginnings of Parkinson’s, my Mom, siblings and I were distraught and uncertain as to next steps. We positioned him at The Palms, October 2019 and have been more than pleased with their nurturing, care giving, "family" meals, daily events/interaction and ongoing commitment to our family. The entire staff starting with Laura Davis, Steve and the rest of the team have been exceptional, attentive and respond promptly with our many questions. Thank you! Stay Healthy and Safe!

My mom is about to turn 94! She has lived at The Palms for about 31/2 years and because I've moved to Naples, I'm moving her the the sister community closer to me. From the moment you step inside- there is an atmosphere that is so positive and upbeat. Laura Davis, the sales director, has been an angel atop my shoulder from the moment I met her. The staff truly cares about taking care of people. I highly recommend The Palms to anyone who is looking for a home for a loved one. Lot's of activities and parties, a hair salon, and many other amenities. Thank you all for taking such great care of my mom!

My dad has been at the Palms for 5 years. He started in Independent Living and most recently move to Assisted Living. The staff is wonderful and always happy to help with any question or problem that we might have with him. I can't say enough about each and everyone one of the staff and now with him living in Assisted Living , its made his life so much easier. They are so caring and considerate of him and no problem that he may have is too big for them. I love each and everyone of them !

If we do it. Call the community and ask to speak to Diana Hernandez at x213 for more information.

When I visit assisted living communities with my daughter, I find it all a little intimidating. Moving from a small house to a big community is frightening. I just don’t know if I can learn my way around a new place.

We know this is a big change! It is a concern we often hear from seniors and their families. My father needs more help than we can provide for him to be safe at home. I think he realizes it but is reluctant to leave the friends he’s made in his neighborhood. Dad has lived there for about 25 years. What can we do to reassure him he can stay connec

Good question! Embarking on a new chapter in life doesn’t mean old friends have to be left behind. Assisted living communities offer a wide range of programs and events residents can invite guests to participate in. And they also offer transportation services so your dad can attend events in and around town with his old buddies. Fortunately, there are other ways your father can stay in touch. Social media channels like Facebook or a video chat service such as Skype are two easy avenues for staying connected.

My mom agreed that it was time for her to move to an assisted living community this winter. She knows she just isn’t safe living alone any longer. We found a community Mom seemed to love. Now we can’t seem to get her motivated to actually make the move. I

This sometimes happen when it actually comes time to make the move. Your mom is probably anxious and a little uncertain. A late life transition like this isn’t easy to make. What might help is to get her involved in some of the events and activities at the new community now, instead of waiting until she actually moves in. Talk with the staff to see about helping her find a buddy with similar interests and hobbies that she can bond with during her visits. Becoming more familiar with the community and with a few fellow residents can help make the move feel a little less intimidating.

My children live out of town and have busy lives. I know I need to move to a senior living community but I don’t want to burden my children with downsizing my house. What can I do? It’s overwhelming to think about doing it all on my own.

We hear this concern from seniors often. Sorting through and packing up a lifetime of memories and belongings can be overwhelming. One resource we like to share with families is a group of professionals called Senior Move Managers. They are experts at handling all of the details of a later life move. You can find one near your home by visiting the National Association of Senior Move Managers or Certified Relocation & Transition Specialist.
