Conned by Kindred…Stay away! My first, initial contact with Kindred at Home office staff went reasonably okay. The office staff was receptive and committed to providing an RN, PT and OT to assist my parent. The first issue that arose was scheduling. Kindred’s scheduling policy was archaic at best. Their scheduling procedure was that the RN, PT or OT would call the night before visiting day to schedule a visit. I had asked the Kindred Office if more than a 24 hr. notice of a visit could be arranged because I worked outside the home in addition to being my parent’s primary caregiver. I was told that this would be possible Kindred agreed to provide services to my loved one. The first week of visits went fine. However, the second week of service did not. One of the therapists did not arrive when scheduled. Neither the therapist nor the Kindred office called to give notice that the therapist would be late. After 30 minutes of waiting, I called the Kindred office to see if the therapist was going to show up at all. The office stated that the therapist was stuck in traffic and was on the way. The therapist finally arrived 1 ½ hour late. As the primary caregiver, I felt that this was totally unacceptable as I too had an employer to answer to. Nevertheless, once the therapist began manipulations on my mother, she needed more of my assistance than I expected throughout the entire therapy session. When other therapists visited, they arrived and did their work. I later found out that Kindred was sending a PT assistant to treat my loved one, and not a fully licensed physical therapist. In my state, practicing PT assistants should practice up under the supervision of Master Level, Licensed PT, however, Kindred allowed the PTA to perform manual therapy procedures of mobilization and manipulation unsupervised on my loved one. In addition, sometimes the RN, OT and PT would make unrealistic recommendations for expensive equipment that I should get for my loved one. My family had done the best we could with the limited resources available to provide the medical equipment we obtained for our loved one. On another visit a therapist recommended that we look into inpatient rehab for our loved one. In this age of COVID-19, that was a risk that my family and I were not willing to take. By week four, I called the office to present my concerns hoping to find a mutual solution; I once again explained that as the primary caregiver for my parent, I must have a more reliable schedule because I too had an employer relying upon me to come to work on time. I also shared my concerns about services not being up to the standard that I was promised to strengthen and enhance the life of my loved one. I requested better scheduling, better communication, less conversation about expensive equipment recommendations. After I made that call, I began to experience conversation from each therapist that was argumentative and accusatory when I explained that I was unable to purchase or obtain equipment they recommended, I began experiencing what seemed like a retaliatory attitude. I believe the argumentative and negative conversation had a derogatory effect on me personally and on the general well-being of my loved one. In the end, my loved one did not get better under their care the way it was delivered. There was little compassion. We felt that the staff was unreliable, demanding, argumentative and retaliatory. We decided to do better research and choose another home health company to assist us, one that made my loved one’s care feel like a priority over one that just wanted to check off the boxes to meet company quota’s/recommendations.

My mother broke her hip and was released to go home. This company is the best! They offer they whole spectrum. When she was sick they would call and check on her. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!!!

Kindred provided OT and PT service to my father after returning home from rehabilitation at a SNF. Every therapist and nurse that came to his home was excellent. I meant to write this review sooner but a phone call from them to my father last week asking how he was doing prompted me to write this ASAP.

Home health is skilled nursing and rehabilitative therapy provided in your home. Care is focused on helping you manage a chronic condition or recover from an acute illness, surgery, accident or a change in medical condition.
Home health is covered 100% by Medicare, and we accept most forms of insurance. Part of the admission process includes verification of insurance. We can help answer your financial and insurance questions.
Transportation, especially to medical appointments and procedures, is a popular home care service. It can often be arranged in a few hours, but the more notice given is always better. A regular planned schedule can be set up, or the caregiver can be used on an "as needed" basis.
Our agency uses a phone-in time card system that alerts the scheduling supervisor if someone does not check in at the appointed time for any unforeseen reason, so that a supervisor can immediately come by to care for a client until the caregiver arrives or a replacement is arranged. This also guarantees that clients are accurately billed for the actual hours worked. It is one of the major advantages of working with an agency, the assurance and peace-of-mind that back-up staffing is an integral part of the service, especially for frail seniors.
Yes, we do. We first arrange a meeting with the family to conduct a thorough assessment and develop a plan of care. This is not only to fully understand what activities or senior care services are needed, but also to get a sense of what kind of personality might best suit him or her. After this is completed, we will match the person with a caregiver. If at any time you would like to change your caregiver, this can easily be arranged.
The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is presenting significant challenges for all of us, but especially older adults and people with chronic conditions who are most vulnerable to the virus. Our in-home care makes it possible for older adults to heed the CDC’s recommendation for social distancing while continuing to receive the care they need to manage existing medical conditions. We strongly believe that the care we deliver is lower risk than the delivery of care in other settings, where patients are more likely to be exposed. And in-home care can help prevent unnecessary hospitalizations. We are taking every possible precaution to protect our patients, their caregivers and our clinicians from the spread of the virus: · Every in-home clinician must pass a daily health screening before being approved for patient visits · We have restricted access to our branch locations for visitors, as well as clinicians to minimize our exposure to COVID-19 · We are employing the use of telehealth technology when appropriate · We are conducting risk assessments on every patient who is referred to our service or currently on our service · We require personal protective equipment when treating patients with confirmed positive COVID-19 tests and those under home monitoring for coronavirus · We have provided updated training on infectious disease control to all of our employees, including the proper use of protective equipment · We’ve established a multi-disciplinary task force to coordinate and lead our efforts related to COVID-19 Kindred at Home is also working in partnership with local, state and federal governments—as well as other home health agencies—to devise and promote industry-wide solutions to this growing health crisis. You can count on us to remain vigilant during this challenging time. We are 100% committed to you and your loved ones.
