My wife gave me a Traeger smoker for fathers day and I have been using it a lot. We decided to go to lunch at Double s to have lunch and maybe get some ideas on what I can smoke on the Traeger. Our time and money would have been better spent If I watched you tube videos and bought a slab of meat from a butcher. No, I'm not exaggerating. Burger King would have been better. The place itself is very nice and I really like the interior as it was nicely done. The waitress/hostess was pleasant, also. Very nicely done and that's where the good experience ends. We got there around 12:30 and they open at noon. The waitress advised us that a pipe burst and that there were no soft drinks available, hence no root beer. Menu says iced and sweet tea. There was only unsweetened and no sweet tea. All that was left was alcohol and we were just not wanting it at the time. I ordered the BBQ cheese fries as an appetizer and that was the best part of the food. It's hard to screw up fries. My wife ordered the pulled pork entrée with mac and cheese and garlic mashed as sides. She got an ok serving of pulled pork, but it looked like it was soaked in warm water as it was runny, flavorless and not hot. I ordered the smokehouse sampler entrée - brisket, pulled pork, pulled chicken and ribs with sweet potato mashed and mac and cheese. 2 ribs, 2 small slices of brisket, a spoonful of chicken and a spoon full of pork. The meats were all, for the most part, cold, dry and flavorless. The ribs and brisket were hard. There were 4 different flavored BBQ sauces on the table that could be described and flavorless thick brown water in squeeze bottles. I had to put ketchup on the brisket to give it some moisture. The mac and cheese and potatoes were hot because they were probably nuked. They were okay and nothing more than that. Having been in the military, I've choked down some pretty lousy food, but I would have rather had an MRE than eat the food we were served. Neither one of us finished our food. When the waitress came over and asked how the food was, I told her unfiltered. She spoke to her manager who offered 2 free deserts. If the food was that bad, we weren't waiting around for desert. The bill was $100 with tip. So, that's 5 racks of baby back ribs or a 10-12 pound slab of brisket. See what I mean? I would have been better off staying home and smoking the meats myself. We read the other reviews before going that described exactly what we experienced and thought that it can't be THAT bad. If you're still reading this, IT WAS THAT BAD. If this review saves someone else the money and the bad experience, it was worth it.

This establishment needs to be closed. Extremely poor food quality. After waiting 30 minutes to get our food, (we were the sole diners in the entire place) each meat selection served was COLD. And I don't mean warm, I mean cold, which was worse than it was tasteless. Smoked ribs were old and hard, tasteless pulled pork was soaked in grease, and the brisket....honest to God, it had the color of a brownie it was so old and hard. Either someone needs to start tasting what they are serving, or this place needs to cut their losses and close down. To be fair, we did address the food with server who promptly called the owner. Owner says you must pay for the meal you didn't (couldn't actually) eat but you get a free dessert. Why in the world would any foodie take a free dessert when the entrees were that poor. No thank you on any level for that poor gesture. What we would have preferred is someone of authority try to eat that brisket or cold, oily week old pulled pork themselves in front of us. It's was literally the worst quality of food we have ever been served. State health needs to be called to check the freshness of food served and it's temperatures because an unsuspecting diner could get gravely ill from this restaurant.

We had a corned beef sandwich that was literally inedible because it was so tough. I didn't think it was even possible to toughen corned beef. Also had the tri-tip steak and it was very tough. The chicken wrap and burger were not bad. I was hoping this was a one-off experience, but the reviews here make me think otherwise. This was especially disappointing given the price. It's too bad. Making good food is not that hard if you put in the effort. There are not a lot of BBQ joints in the area so I guess we need some more competition. In that way everyone ups their game.

I thought the brisket was perfect. My friend thought it was a little dry. Mashed garlicky potatoes and Mac and cheese were great. We were very happy and satisfied. The sauce selection was fun. We thought some of them could have been a little thicker but really they were fine. I'd like to try more menu items next time we're in town
