I am actually stunned by the way I was treated by the clinic staff yesterday when I arrived for my 8am 6 month dental appointment. My family and I have been going to this clinic for over 2 years and have never had any issue. The receptionist asked me to come around into the office on the other side of the desk and told me I couldn't be seen because I didn't answer their calls. I asked when someone called me and she said they "called and called the day before". I told her I had received an email from the clinic as usual - "Ava, It's almost time! As a friendly reminder...... Your appointment is: Tuesday, August 9, 2022 8:00am See you soon! Sincerely, Dunedin Dental Care". (I am looking at the email - it was sent on Monday, August 8 at 4:01pm.) I told the receptionist I didn't receive a call, but that I have never been under the impression that we are supposed to respond to any call or email with the concern that if we didn't, our appointment would be cancelled. She just kept repeating that they called and since I didn't call back they couldn't see me. She looked at her computer and just said "we can schedule you tomorrow." I told her I had received the above email as usual before my appointment and there has been no indication that my appointment would be cancelled. She was dismissive and abrupt. I told her I wouldn't be able to reschedule. I went out to my car in the parking lot and called the clinic. I asked to speak to the office manager. The person who came on the phone said her name was Monica and she was the person I just spoke with and she should have introduced herself. She did not apologize and proceeded to argue with me when I told her my appointment had been cancelled and that no one had informed me, or told me my appointment could be cancelled. She kept repeating herself saying "your appointment wasn't cancelled". I told her I couldn't believe the way I was treated - that I was turned away, that I had arrived at 7:56 am, that I had taken off of work - I felt humiliated and hurt. I have never been treated this way by any provider. I have been a faithful and dependable patient at this clinic along with my family - and I am shaking right now just typing this - but I realized that if I don't say something, Dr. Maltby will never know. She never apologized for what they had just done to me. I have called my insurance company as well and filed a complaint. Dr. Maltby and his staff have always been so kind and professional to us - I am still shocked that someone in charge can just get away with something like this as if nothing has happened. I did notice when I walked in that I had never seen the waiting room so crowded - I always ask to be scheduled as early as possible, (first appointment of the morning) so that I can get back to work. There were a lot of people filling out paperwork as well. I understand if you were overbooked - but to ignore the fact that I kept my appointment, to not tell me you have a new system - that after your send me the "friendly reminder" email the night before, (which you have done countless times for me and my son) - that the friendly reminder really means something else and not to bother telling me - I wonder how many other people you have done this to Monica - and you have gotten away with it - because they didn't write a review.

During my first we had a serious of what needed to happen in the future with my dental health and it was nice to know they had make back.
