Organization seems unorganized. Worked with them for months waiting for a first real appointment for housing counseling to only be canceled two days before for lack of staff. I gathered dozens of docs and their email basically said good luck and we'll shred what you sent. Super annoying, discouraging and frustrating! Unfortunately, I had already signed up for another class with them so I'll see how this goes..

Solitas house has been unprofessional and seemingly disorganized in the dealings with my friend. He is a veteran who should be treated with dignity and respect not pushed aside. No call backs, no updates, late or delayed zooms all cause stress to a person already in a stressful situation and suffering ptsd.

I didn’t gain or learn anything from this first-time homebuyer course. I took the class and felt like it didn’t teach me any real world scenarios that I would face in this hot real estate market. Instead, it went over loans that are unattainable since most lenders don’t work with them because those funds run out quickly. They also went over loans that are only available through Solita’s house and good luck finding anyone to help you with that. And they don’t tell you that it’ll take two months to even speak with a counselor and that is a long time considering the urgency in the market. Which was also never discussed in the course. I had major issues with my home and my counselor wasn’t any help. She wanted to go over budgets when I was in a crisis. When I needed advice on the situation— I barely got a call back. When my mortgage went up $700/mo I requested a meeting because I didn’t understand it and I never heard back. This program did not prepare me at all and I would not recommend. There are plenty of other first-time homebuying programs out there, do not choose this one. Yes, it’s free but you get what you pay for.

This organization is committed to providing the keys to successfully help their clients achieve their dream of home ownership! The first time homebuyers class is so informative and the housing counseling helps the clients with the process of applying for mortgage loans they assist in searching for down payment assistance and so much more! Great organization.

You have to call there office and set up an appointment to attend classes to get your certificate
St.vincent DePaul pays them to host a class for people needing assistance.
Go to their website and fill out an application for the class. After that they will send you an email confirmation of your application being received. Then they will send you i believe a second email the week of the class to confirm your assistance. Solita's will then require for you to call them to the privided number on that email for you to confirm your assistance. After you hear their recorded message u need to wait a bit before you can actually hear the beep before you can leave them a message....it took me 3 tries to realize this, once you do this solita's will put you on their list, make sure to leave a clear message, because they wont contact you to confirm receipt of your voicemail. Then all you do afterwards is show up for the class. If you are taking the english class they do not have it at 7th avenue, so make sure to get the correct location. When i took the class a lot of people ended uo at that location due to missinformation. Best of luck to you, hope this helps 😊
Call Solitas House and make an appointment for the course
Go get it now
