There's not much I could say about this place that hasn't already been said in all the positive reviews, so here's an anecdote: I came to Long Beach for vacation and forgot my prescription sunglasses at home. I wandered into the various sunglass and eyewear stores on Second Street, dreading the thought of spending a week here without eye protection. I didn't reasonably expect that anyone would be able to help me, but browsing for glasses cheered me up a little. When I got to Second Street Optique, I met Mark and explained my situation. I jokingly asked if he could make me a pair before my visit was over, and he replied the he could do it in two business days.* Mark spent the next hour showing me his curated inventory of frames and calling his suppliers while we waited to see if my opthalmologist would send my Rx (it was 5pm on a Friday back in my time zone.) I left that day with a renewed sense of hope for my trip, and what turned out to be a great dinner suggestion. True to his word, Mark fitted my new Barton Perreiras in time for me to enjoy them in the LA sun. I've never been happier with a pair of shades. They're nicer than I would have picked out back home, but I love the look and quality, lightweight construction. Thank you, Mark! *Don't expect all your glasses to be made in two days. There was a super flower blood moon eclipse this week end, and a nominal rushing fee.
