I'm not sure how he does it, but my body and mind have been at total ease since the first treatment. I went from having tight muscles and stiff joints and recurring migraines from a neck injury to feeling like Gumpy. My SI-joint is weak and the slightest movement can always throw my lower back off, where I would have to do very specialized PT or specific exercises to put things back into place. With Neil's first treatment, my body somehow learned to put things back in place on its own. I started with weekly then biweekly treatments. But even after an absence of 4 weeks, I was still at 85% "looseness". He's incredible. But you won't think he did anything...you'll just feel it the next morning!

I've been getting Neil's therapy for going on a year now. In that time I have only had one full-blown migraine, while In years prior I averaged more than ten migraines. I cannot account for this improvement without crediting the Mind-Body Release therapy. In my experience, MBR not only nearly erases migraines from my life, but also undoes many other issues I used to suffer: knots in my shoulder, stiff neck, numb IT band in my leg. When I hit the gym, I can do so knowing I won't incur more harm than good, because MBR will cancel out any excesses of tension I put into my body. I highly recommend Neil's treatment for anyone experiencing excess tension in body, mind, or both.

I love deep tissue but have some physical ailments that don’t allow me to have too much pressure during massage. Using a very different style Neil was able to give me the intensity I wanted along with the gentleness I needed, all at the same time. It made a big difference in my body and really worked for me. He doesn’t use lotion or oil but at the end he used some on my feet and back at my request, which was a great finishing touch. Neil is a true healer and a sweet guy to boot! I’ll be booking with him again soon!

I have been to many massage therapists and several craniosacral therapists. Neil's treatments are the best I've ever had, and the effects of each session last longer than those I received from the others. I was used to intense, deep tissue massage, so initially I was highly skeptical of the lighter touch and new modalites he used. Yet the results of his methods have amazed me every time: relief from IBS symptoms, chronic migraines, neck and hip pain. Needless to say, I’m a very impressed repeat customer.

I'm an MIT graduate who has found human beings and bodies to be much more interesting than computers. I've combined an understanding of the mind-body relationship, health, systems, and physics into a unique healing method. In Mind-Body Release I apply everything I've learned treating people facing chronic pain, cancer, and other serious challenges, and from more than 1200 hours of training in manual therapies including Myofascial Release, Craniosacral Therapy, Lymph Drainage Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, and Feldenkrais.

How is Mind-Body Release different from energy work?

Mind-Body Release Therapeutic Bodywork | Sep 4, 2020
Mind-Body Release Therapeutic Bodywork | Sep 4, 2020

Compared to Reiki and similar practices, Mind-Body Release is more hands-on and a bit more physical. I don't focus on your energy or use my energy to heal you; I free restrictions that impede the flow of energy as well as oxygen, nutrients, wastes, and information.

How can Mind-Body Release help people feel younger?

Over the years, physical and emotional restrictions develop in various parts of your body that freeze proper movement and interfere with efficient function. Your mind-body system automatically adapts by shifting the load to parts that are still moving and functioning well. Restrictions and compensations can accumulate for years or decades until you’ve used up your capacity to compensate. As you pass this tipping point, subtle dysfunctions become obvious, you experience pain and other symptoms, and may have a diagnosable disease. Suddenly you feel old. By loosening restrictions, Mind-Body Release helps to unwind this process, which seems to be the inevitable result of aging.

First off, you keep your clothes on. Gone are the oils and strokes of Swedish, the pain and intrusiveness of Deep Tissue. While massage focuses on skin and muscles, Mind‑Body Release works with your mind, nervous system, every part of your body. With MBR you don't feel like you've had a massage; you just feel more comfortable in your body.

With Mind-Body Release do I have to take my clothes off?

Unlike conventional massage, Mind-Body Release doesn't require or recommend that you disrobe. It also doesn't use oils or lotions, which can stain clothing. Please bring clothing in which you feel comfortable moving around. Thick, stiff pants such as jeans are not recommended, but I can work with whatever you choose to wear.

What is Mind-Body Release?

Mind-Body Release Therapeutic Bodywork | Sep 4, 2020

Mind-Body Release is gentle hands-on therapy that restores harmony within and between mind and body, using non‑verbal listening, physical support, and subtle motion. In modern life, when you experience a threat, usually you can't fight or flee; instead you contract and freeze. Tension and restrictions accumulate in your body. MBR helps your nervous system to recognize that the threats are in the past, and it's now safe for your mind and body to relax. MBR can engage any place in your body that needs attention without adding to pain or triggering defenses. This makes it more effective with everyone but is crucial for the most sensitive and vulnerable.
