Meditation is a process akin to scooping water from a river into a transparent pail. If you leave this turbid water stagnant for some time, heavier sediments such as sand and gravel sink to the bottom while lighter sediments float to the surface. This process leaves the middle portion of the water clean and purified. Similarly, the practice of meditation calms the mind, facilitating the falling away of chaotic thoughts to achieve mental clarity and assisting the body in eliminating toxins. When our mind and body reach the state of purity, we achieve better health and unlock greater wisdom and intuition.
According to scientific research, when a person is in a relaxed and calm state, the body releases beneficial hormones, enzymes and neurotransmitters (such as acetylcholine) that could help improve blood circulation, increase neurotransmitters and enhance the immune system. On the other hand, a state of anxiety, depression or stress could lead one into experiencing hormonal imbalance, organ malfunction and other health issues. Meditation trains our mind to reduce negative attachments, eliminate stress and broaden perspective. It makes our mind clear, resilient and calm, and our body flexible and strong. As a result, we become healthier overall.
The Bodhi Meditation practices employ a visualization method that uses one thought to replace all distracting thoughts, making it easier for those with no meditation experience to enter a relatively calm state. Along with Grandmaster JinBodhi’s blessing and guidance, practitioners use simple mudras and compassionate visualization to enter a pure and auspicious state; through this process, they eliminate disorderly thoughts swiftly, maintain calmness of the mind and experience oneness with Universal energy. When the mind and body feel relaxed, the state of compassion and tranquility will manifest. In turn, afflictions and illnesses will be eliminated naturally.
The meditation practices in Bodhi Meditation are suitable for people of any religious background. The meditative state goes beyond philosophies, natural sciences and religions. To be in a meditative state is to be in a state of compassion and purity. Bodhi Meditation welcomes people of all religions, as we have made it our mission to ensure that all practitioners benefit and attain health and happiness.
Nonvegetarians may practice meditation too. However, you are advised not to consume heavy meals during a retreat. A light diet is recommended as this reduces the burden on your digestive system. In turn, your body and mind feel lighter and calmer and thus experience better results.
Bodhi Meditation (1) brings about mental and physical relaxation as the body absorbs, adjusts and balances energy. This in turn increases vital energy, improves suboptimal health, strengthens the body, and enhances immunity. (2) purifies mind and body and thus wisdom arises, and we return to a state of simplicity. Through methods of practicing calmness and peacefulness, irrational and disorderly thoughts can be eradicated and replaced by an increase in fortitude and the activation of inner potential. (3) helps us to understand the Law of Nature and the art of conducting oneself in society, improves our ability to manage family life, and paves the way to a successful career.
