I came here to adopt a kitty, hoping I wouldn’t see an animal prison. (So many shelters get hardly any funding and are strapped for resources, and it’s not usually the fault of the shelter). What I found was a thriving animal community with loving caretakers and great care. I cannot say enough for all of them. I met Katie and Erika, both of whom are absolutely lovely. There was also a sweet volunteer. It’s obvious how much they love and care for these animals. They give them the best they have to offer. It warmed my heart. The fee I paid covered all the vet costs, shots associated with my fur baby and the spaying, as well as helping maintain this facility. THIS IS A BARGAIN. The cat I got is sweet, healthy, and clean. There was lots of advice on how to care for my kitty, due to her special circumstances, as well as the director giving me her phone number in the event I had any concerns. This is what people do when they truly care. If I could give Animal Friends of NCWV more than 5 stars, I would. ❤️

We are so happy that we were approved to adopt a puppy from Animal Friends of North Central West Virginia! When we learned about our puppy's history it was so sad to hear but just looking at her it was evident that she has been receiving excellent and loving care from Animal Friends! She is a cherished part of our family now! Thank you so much for all you do at Animal Friends!

No, they do not rescue or adopt out birds.

Does it cost to bring them to the shelter?

Animal friends DOES NOT accept animals from the public, they pull from pounds and other shelters.

Our neighbor has their dog tied to the tire of their vehicle and it has been yelping for a very long time! This is the second time in a month that I have heard it...is there anything someone can do to help this poor dog?

Hell no

Is it open to the public to just walk in at anytime during business hours to try to see the animal your interested in, or do you have to make an appointment?

Yes you can, they prefer you call fist so there is not too many people there at the same time.

No. You need a live trap. You could ask the county shelter or a local rescue. There are also traps for sale at Tractor Supply.

I have 2 hamsters of dire need of rescue and vet care. Do you take hamsters.

There is a doggie day on the mileground that is in a metal garage the dogs run free and bark all day the outside around the fence is awful and the dogs aren't happy I live near and the barking goes on all day. Please look into for the dogs and me

Any animals that are in the care of another business are the responsibility of that business. Dogs bark, that's what they do. Tt does not mean that they are hurt or not being taken care of. If you have concerns, I suggest you contact that specific business or look up your local noise ordinance laws.
