Great small resort. Slops are good, fast and a little technical. 2 lifts and 1 newbee. I wish it was not as expensive as big mountain resort.

Small mountain that can accommodate small children (my youngest is 2). Rental gear is nice for the kids, and snowboards come with a leash for the shortest one. There's a magic carpet for the learning slope which is great but you can also just drag little ones up and forgo the carpet ticket. Though I appreciate there was an option to only purchase the carpet ticket without having to buy a full lift ticket since we were really there to teach the kids. No locker room so ski lodge can get pretty packed.

Went to Plattekill today as a first time skier. Wife and I drove from hours away, stayed over the night to make a nice weekend out of it. I arrived at the mountain for my private lesson to chaos by the Learning center. As I approached the man checking in the people for lessons, he told me that “the system overbooked” lesson reservations, so myself and many others were turned away to go home (since we don’t know how to ski!). Many people, myself included, were furious and disappointed. I really felt bad for the little children that were looking forward to this. I went inside to guest service provided no other alternative and still continued with the same LIE excuse. No...Sorry, the system didn’t over book lessons-it’s either you did intentionally to cover for no-shows OR instructors didn’t show up for work today. After telling me to go down the bunny hill, and repeating to the guest service member the point of the lesson is: I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO SKI, she asked if I wanted a refund, which I took. But that does not account for all the time wasted and other money wasted that was invested into making the weekend possible. Be better. Atleast for the children. Liars.

Excellent humble mountain on the outskirts of the Catskills! Plattekill has an authentic, old-school vibe that is a graceful departure from the more corporate resorts in the area. As a Friday hiker, I tend to avoid crowded forests so that I can enjoy a more natural experience out there. This place feels like a forgotten trail; you will find many untouched glades if you look hard enough (weather permitting). A rugged, independent vibe, and the classic ski-it-if-you-can attitude make this place my favorite ski mountain in the area!
