The best Indian food in the state. Seriously, I've had desi food throughout Edison and Iselin and nothing compares to Star of India. Cuisine is 5/5 and appropriate prices to boot. The atmosphere is also such a vibe. Everyone I've ever brought here has loved Star of India and you will too.

This was our second time going to star of India. I was really craving mirchi pakoda. They had that as appetizer. We also ordered house special. House special came with 2pcs tandoori chicken, mutton masala, dal and veggies curry, plain white rice and naan bread. When we went there first time we ordered house special and requested to make it spicy. As the spice was too much for hubby, hence we didn't mention anything this time, and that was a mistake. Without spicyness, that dal curry and the mutton dish is not that testy. In fact it tested creamy sweet! 😕 2nd problem was price of the food. On the menu mirchi pakoda was $6ish and house special was $17.95. When the bill came, we saw we were charged $9 for pakoda and $25 for house special!!! If the owner is feeling lazy enough 🦥 not to reprint the menu with corrected price, the least he can do is making the guest aware that the menu price is incorrect, expect to get charged more!!! That is basic decency! 😑 Only reason I am giving 4/5 is because the mirchi pakoda mitigated my craving. Rest of the food, I'd rather not have eaten 😐
