We had a wonderful day searching and finding sight remains. It was a nice hike too.

Really neat location with lots of history. Love that you can still see the ruins of the leftover Dam parts. They blasted most of it away, though there is still quite a bit of it left. A great adventure for kids and adults alike! Make sure to watch some of the videos explaining the accident on YouTube.

An easy hike with some top notch urban decay - the road and road signs are still there but are being slowly swallowed by nature. Take the kids and dogs, park at the top or bottom, walk there and back again.

Interesting if you read it's history first. Vandalism, graffiti, a few homeless camps and fire pits, broken glass in the parking areas. Toilet paper and food wrappers need to be picked up. Saw a lady and her daughter on bikes with a backpack of plants they were stealing. If you like the desert and can look past the trash, visit here, bring plenty of water. There's no phone reception so be smart.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Francis_Dam The collapse of the St. Francis Dam on March 12, 1928, is, in terms of loss of life, the second-greatest disaster in California history. The first was the San Francisco earthquake and fire of 1906. The death toll from the collapse varies from about 400 to more than 600.
