Hot Dog Johnny’s is a nice place to get a few dogs with a milkshake or root beer while enjoying the outside air. The staff is always nice here and the pricing is very reasonable for what you get. The hot dogs are cooked in peanut oil and are pretty good. It’s always a nice stop when in the area.

We haven’t been here for several years and this past Sunday we took Rt 80 down through to Rt 46 to enjoy a fried hot dog, steamed bun, topped with relish, chopped raw onion, mustard, pickle and HOLD the ketchup. The sign showed CASH ONLY and not sure if I had enough $$ but 5 hot dogs, 2 orders of French fries and a birch beer for less than $20! The parking lot has ample spaces for up to 40 cars, green lawn with Pequest Creek flowing alongside and both indoor and outdoor seating. Fast service, too! 77 years of serving a basic, simple menu along the highway; easy in and out.

Took the hour+ ride from Scranton to try this famed hot dog spot and it did not disappoint! Super yummy, no frills, and a beautiful river to watch while you eat. Bathrooms are a bit cramped but do the job. We had the fully loaded dogs, fries, a milkshake, and birch beer - and it was very much worth the trip.

I grew up getting hot dogs from here on special occasions and haven't been in probably 10 years...and happily they haven't changed! The hot dogs have the same unique taste to them, though they're not terribly "exciting" like a ripper or a Chicago-style dog (with the poppy seed bun, tomato, neon relish, etc.) – french fries are rather bland but the crispy ones are ON POINT. No frills, no posted menu, food served in a brown paper bag... It cost me just under $6 for 2 dogs and a fry. I don't remember ever getting the birch beer before, so I didn't this time, but looking at the other reviews I'm wishing I did.

No table sitting but in the meadows you can sit mask only while ordering
I would say no. But it never hurts to ask.
The Hot Dog Johnny's website says: "Hot Dog Johnny's opened its doors on Palm Sunday 1944".
Seems all up to the standards mask, distance and cleanlines.
I guess the owner had the recipe and thought it would be a brilliant item to serve. After all, you don't see it often on the regular places.
Their selection is dogs and fries, they also have birch Beer and buttermilk. As for the dogs, they are fried in peanut oil and you have the following choice of condiments: mustard, pickle, onions,and/or relish. They will give you ketchup packets for your fries if you wish. It's not a big selection, but the quality of the food is great. Four generations of my family has been going there and my family isn't the only one. They clearly are doing something right. They also are open all year too.
We were there at 11:30
All beef hotdogs cooked in peanut oil
They are as of now (5/15/20). Stopping with some guys after work today actually!

They sell hot dogs, mustard, onion, pickle, relish, and ketchup for toppings thats it. Fries are top notch as well. I suggest their birch beer for your beverage.
I never broke it out. I think a 16oz glass adds a couple bucks to the order.
Yes, they are open year round and there is indoor seating. They remove their walls around Memorial Day and put them back up a little after Labor Day
