Every time I go to this Salon since the original woman who I believe the shop is named after, Fama left there is some sort of dispute over overpricing going on with customers and these new braiders. While I too feel overcharged by them and feel they have no customer appreciation, my issue is with their lack of natural hair concern or care, lack of knowledge of the newest styles and overall HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I have gotten a crochet style that ruined the curl pattern of the extensions and left me with so much hair damage and hair loss the concept of a PROTECTIVE hairstyle just went out the window. They don’t follow instructions to not braid tight. My last experience a few weeks ago, they charged $20 extra for neat parts and another extra $20 for knotless box braids @$200 and cut my 26” braid hair by nearly 5 inches without asking or notifying me first. When I expressed my concern over the matter I was told “we’re not gonna ask you permission to cut the hair”...!!! The hair I bought and paid for the length I wanted. Any braid length that can’t be rolled up into itself and tied into a bun is useless to me. No wonder they took down their YELP ACCOUNT The audacity! I have an African American braider (who was unfortunately booked) who is kind, doesn’t braid too tight, leaves out baby hair at my request and doesn’t charge extra $20 for knotless, $20 for triangle parts in addition to the 27” braids for $220. MY HAIR LOOKS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! And I’m not one to ever compliment anything on myself !! But the braiding was absolutely perfect and it makes me feel pretty . The owner is so sweet and took me in after I missed my appointment which I appreciate! I finally found my go to hairstylist !! The young girl with the Nike Air Force 1’s did an amazing job ! She’s so talented! Keep up the hard work ladies !!

Called for a half up half down sew in weave with braids in the front. She asked me for a pic I sent it. It took the girl forever to call me back with a quote I knew it was something fishy. Then she calls back and says that the style would be $300 just for install no styling. Girl bye ✌🏾 Thank god I dodged the bullet I just seen a review and the end result of somebody’s hair “UNACCEPTABLE”👏🏾

I was supposed to have a consultation today I thought with the owner whom I spoke with over the phone, however when I got there she wasn't there and the young lady whom I did speak with had no idea expectations of me being there. The sign on the door says the salon opens at 9:00 a.m. however no one showed up until 9:40 a.m. I was there at 9:00 a.m. of course so was someone that had an appointment. Two other customers came in without appointments and returned away because the new rules of the salon is that you must have an appointment, of course this isn't mentioned on their website. It's just a lot of confusion with this salon. I'm almost sure the price that I was quoted but this young lady will not be the price that I will be paying should I go back for my service. This initial experience with African hair braiding by FAMA, Left much to be desired, I'm not sure I desire to experience anymore of what they have to offer. If your expectations are minimal take the chance.
