We moved to Chester Riding Club about 8 months ago and have really enjoyed our experience so far. It is a family friendly barn with great horses and instructors. We have already made some good friends too. I'm a father and I take lessons at the same time, or sequentially (if I want more focused teaching) with my two sons who also love riding. Both flat and jumping lessons are great, and my riding has definitely improved a lot since I started here. This isn't just because the teachers are great. It's the horses too. I'm not used to having such high quality school horses, they respond well to the leg and they are good jumpers. CRC has both indoor and outdoor rings, with excellent footing and Jamie, the owner is very approachable and also a top instructor. One additional bonus, for someone like me who has started to value creature comforts, is that the tacking up area attached to the barn and ring is HEATED. There is nothing better than getting into the ring during a cold winter morning with warm toes and fingers, and then being to untack in the same heated barn. I hope to ride here for many years to come.

This facility is the worst ever. Last year I tried to schedule a riding lesson for my daughter for her birthday. They were rude and not accommodating. I figured it was because of the worldwide pandemic and wanted to give them another shot this year for my daughters birthday. I called three months ago and scheduled this riding lesson. It was scheduled for 9am on Sunday. I get a call at 3pm Saturday with a voice message saying they were having a conflict and needed to reschedule. I get a call an hour later saying never mind they worked it out everything was perfect and still on for 9am. Then I get a text message at 11pm from Chrissy saying they have a conflict with a pony and that the pony is in a show and they can’t teach my daughter. Couldn’t they have worked all that out being that I scheduled this 3 months in advance!! And a text message almost midnight the night before your appointment? How unprofessional! I scheduled my life around this for my daughter for her birthday. I am livid. This place is an embarrassment. There are so many other riding clubs around I’m shocked these people are still in business. I never write reviews, but I couldnt believe how this was handled. I had to warn others. NEVER CALL THESE PEOPLE!!! IT IS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!

Not sure why my review did not go through the first time but let's try this again! Great place but with all great places, it's the instructors that make this one worth going to. Very laid back atmosphere, the instructors are great with all age groups. I talked to many other riders who always have the same kind of attitude; "How many years have I been riding? Well, the only ones that count are the ones I did here." That's the level of instruction you get. Highly recommend.

Shipped a horse, Charmeur P, to this facility from Lexington KY, Sarah agreed to the payment cost on behalf of the customer and set up the shipping in May of 2019, but never alerted customer the cost. I was given no contact information for the customer throughout this process. Finally found a Facebook, after several requests for payment customer acknowledged she was never aware there was a shipping bill, claimed she'd pay and then proceeded to block my account. Chester Riding Club will not take responsibility to this open account despite certified letters being sent demanding payment. Do not do business with this group unless you request cash upfront before providing any type of service.

Questions & Answers

How much are the lessons?

I imagine it depends on the instructor. Mine is 75 a lesson but you can purchase 10 for the price of 9. Well worth the money though. At first it seems a little laid back but thats intentional. The instruction is top notch.
