I drove across country over 2,000 miles after reserving a unit weeks ago, only to find someone had already rented my unit and the same size wasn't available. The customer service associate only stated that 80% of reservations don't show up and so basically it was normal they have a shady fake reservation system. I also saw a ton of rent late notices on units, so people's comments here that the manager takes them off autopay to stack them with fees seems legitimate. The other thing to note was that it was not a lower level employee mistake that caused my situation. The boss did it intentionally. If you can't get good customer service before the sale, there's no way I can expect it after I paid. Avoid this place. They should have given me an upgrade for my troubles and instead blamed no shows. I would have been happy to pay for the unit early if I hadn't been told it would be reserved.

A lady DANIELLE was trading the girl who answered my call. I was incredibly patient after waiting on hold 11 mins before trying to get the reservation together. I needed a truck and to tow a car and the new employee apparently had no training before answering so Danielle need to be there also. Which was fine. 14 minutes into the reservation and after a 3 employee, a manager said the cat need to be on a car lift not the toe dolly.. I agreed and requested to know if the truck was even available the day I needed it. The new girl transferred me and I agreed to insurance ON BOTH after danielle explained that both were the truck and the dolly I asked to get to point where I know if the truck is available before I have to go through all this with another location. She put me on a brief hold and a 4th employee got on the phone I asked to conclude my reservation and they hung up on me. Now I do have to wait on hold and go through this again. California to N.Y. with tow and insurance is about $6000 sale. This location needs training in every aspect of customer service

Depending on where you are looking to go to is sometimes less expensive to rent for in town then it is to do a one way, if it's not a major inconvenience and the difference in the price is low enough to make it worth while then sometimes the price is less to rent and bring it back. It is no problem to get both prices in the same call to compare.
All the trucks I have ever rented from U-Haul had ramps. No lift gates.
