They are the absolute worst vet in LA. They are impossible to get ahold of, especially when your pet is in an emergency. When they do answer they are rude. To get an appointment, it’s a 2 month waiting period to get one. Their insurance plan doesn’t cover anything and once you sign up, you are trapped for over a year. Do not go with this vet clinic.

It’s rough job to be in the care of animals. And thank god veterinarians and the support team behind them are out there working hard, day in and day out. I have no gripes with the quality of medical care given to my pet. But the business model and money grubbing tactics of Banfield are scummy and disrespectful. There’s always an upcharge, there’s always a few tests added on that you probably don’t need to do. There’s always an upsell and very little warning about how much services are going to cost you. You will wait 3-4 weeks at the earliest for the appointment and then, you’re at the mercy of their own daily scheduling when your pet will actually, finally be examined. They’re far more expensive for procedures than a majority of other vets in the area. And they really don’t care how much of a financial hit you’re going to take. The profiteering side of the vet business knows that they have a family member more or less hostage—the business is going to make their money. This is not unique to this pet hospital up here in northeast LA. But this is definitely the last time I’m bringing my pet in for care at Banfield.

I called in prior to bringing my dog Rosie in to chat with a vet and see if they thought her symptoms required a visit. Over the phone she told me she would love to see Rosie and from the few symptoms I gave she knew what tests she would run. I brought Rosie in and sure enough Rosie had what the vet tested for. I have Rosie signed up on the puppy plan so I only had to pay for 1 of the 2 tests that were run as well as her medication. Thank you for taking such good care of Rosie!

No, but you can call us during hospital hours for urgent care advice. Depending on the situation, we can help provide a referral for urgent care, specialty providers, or to an emergency hospital. During non-hospital hours, please contact your local emergency hospital.
I have been taking my 1 1/2 year old doberman to Banfield since she was 8 weeks old when I got her. She's had all her shots and wellness check ups there. They always take great care of my dog.
We believe that preventive care is the most effective way to keep your pet healthy throughout all stages of life. Our pet hospitals offer many preventive care treatments, including: • Vaccinations • Dental Care • Parasite Control • Nutritional Counseling • Behavioral Counseling • Comprehensive Examinations
You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Since wellness plans are not insurance, they do not include treatment for unpredictable or abnormal conditions, however discounts would apply. Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
If you have wellness plan with them it's free.
