To be honest, I only visit this park to walk out of it, into the desert. I'm a bit of a rockhound, & had been advised that this is a good departure point for rockhounding. As a departure point it's pretty good, but must mention that (perhaps due to having open land in 3 directions?) parking here does not seem 100% safe; I observed parking lot for some time, having had my car broken into at a different location whilst rockhounding, and received the impression that this parking lot is popular with those engaging in illicit activities. Couldn't guess which illicit activities, just know there were many occupied vehicles parked in same spots, clearly keeping an eye on other vehicles.

It needs some upkeep for sure! The grass used to be really green, and now you see some dead spots. Over all the grounds look like they aren't being kept up with! This places 2 years ago looked amazing! Someone needs to get back up there and put some love in those fields!
