Rick was great to talk with and gave me some much needed details on my vehicle. They did an excellent job on my STAR Smog check, and I look forward to using them for my upcoming maintenance and maybe checking out my AC levels. They are a AAA certified shop, which doubles your warranty, and gets you a discount.

Mastertech is the best place to take your car or truck here in Oceanside. I worked here for 9 years before hopping into a different career a couple years ago, but still make sure my vehicles are only serviced by the technicians here. Rick and Lou have a strong reputation throughout the community for the business they built (27 years ago) and are as straight as they come, if they say a vehicle needs something, there's no doubt about it, and the technicians they have are honest and very talented. Bob is great with keeping people updated and has fantastic customer service. There are many auto repair shops that continuously utilize the knowledge and experience of Mastertech, along with some of their specialty tools or factory computers, when they have cars they need help with. This is truly the "to-go" spot for all auto repair, from a simple brake job to a complex electrical diagnostic, you are in the best hands possible here.

If you dont want to get ripped off, avoid this location. I went to this place because was recomended by another shop but they were trying to charge me with some crazy high amount of money for some repairs in my car to the point that I was just thinking to sell my car to the junker and get another car, but before, I did my homework, I went to 3 different high rated maintenance shops in oceanside and took the diagnosis receipt I was given at mastertech, a diagnosis that cost me almost 500$. All of this other shops gave me a quote with an average or 3,800 less than the amount mastertech was trying to charge me. Becareful with this people.

I have a 2000 Ford E350 4x4 with a 2010 F350 front axle & transfer case. There is also 2008 E350 steering components. I am the 4th owner. All the work was done before me.Master Tech took approximately 4 days to do the alignment in which they found a bad tie rod and a steering pittman arm. They had to figure out what year the parts were from but after a few days yesterday's the van drove like a dream. I highly recommend this place.

Section 44015 (e) of the California Health and Safety Code states that a Smog Check certificate of compliance or non-compliance is valid for 90 days.
Do not obtain a smog inspection in another state; it will not be valid here. You need not bring it back to California in order to complete your registration. Simply fill out and sign DMV's " Statement of Facts " form (you need the free Adobe Acrobat reader to download and print this form). The registration tags will be mailed to wherever the car is currently located.
Yes, anytime the technician feels that the vehicle is not in good enough condition to safely complete a smog inspection, the technician should refuse to test the vehicle.
It is a good idea to have your coolant checked to determine its freezing and boiling points to verify whether it needs to be changed. Have your air conditioner tested before the summer heats up, it is cheaper to fix before the season gets started.
Synthetic oils are premium, high concentrated lubricants. They are for all vehicles and provide higher mileage. Regular oil works just as well as synthetic oils when it is changed on a regular basis (we recommend every 5,000 miles for most of our customers).
Maintenance is done to prevent any future problems from occurring to the vehicle. Safety is to prevent any incident that would cause damage to the vehicle, to you or to the driver who is driving next to you.
Every dashboard light is responsible for notifying the owner of issues that need to be addressed. If any of the following lights are lit, you need to have your vehicle looked at: engine light, oil light, ABS light, traction light, tire pressure light.
When you first start your car, all the dashboard lights will come on as a safety test. These lights will go off when the test is complete. If the engine light comes on after a test or sometime later, you need to have your car checked. The check engine light is a warning from the on-board computer system. It could be a simple problem to fix, left alone it may become major. Don't ignore this light! Call for auto repair!
Rotating your tires should be done every 5,000 miles (based on average driver). This will ensure proper wear and extend the life of your tires while keeping you safe.
The coloring of the liquid identifies the type of liquid.
