Yes. You have to show your ID when paying with credit/debit cards.
Asbestos is a mineral fiber that was used in building materials for many years, but has been recognized as a significant potential health hazard. Before your remodel or demolish any portion of your home, for the protection of your family’s health and that of your workers, you should know if you have any building materials likely to contain asbestos. If you do not have an asbestos expert on your work crew, we recommend that you contact an engineering firm to assess what asbestos you may have, and for possible removal. The health hazard associated with asbestos is that when broken or crushed, asbestos-containing products can release microscopic fibers which can be inhaled and cause severe irritation to lung tissue. Friable asbestos is brittle, and can readily release these microscopic fibers. Friable asbestos must be removed by licensed contractors, and it can be difficult for an untrained person to determine if a material is friable or not.
Every day at the Del Norte County Transfer Station we accept non-aerosol paints, stains, and waterproofing liquids in their original non-leaking containers for no charge. Empty paint cans or cans with only dried paints may be disposed with other household trash. We have a reduced rate for untreated wood (no paints, stains, pressure-treated wood, plywood or particle board, though nails and staples are ok) if that is separated from other trash. Plywood and painted wood are trash. Hope this helps.
I have taken junk there and was charged $7.75 each trip for up to 100 pounds.
We have a reduced rate for concrete without steel or rebar, in pieces no larger than 18" in any dimension. If your concrete pieces are larger, we can accept them at the trash rate, but you need to be able to unload them without assistance, and no steel can be protruding more than 3" from any concrete chunk. Otherwise, those can punch holes in the sides of the trucks and cause problems loading and unloading.
After you reuse as much as you can, bubble wrap is trash. Same as Styrofoam, shrink wrap, and plastic bags. Thanks for asking.
You can get untreated wood for no charge. Sometimes there are slightly damaged pallets in the untreated wood pile. You might find something you can use, but no promises that you will. Our transfer station operations contractor also stores pallets on-site for their use, and these are NOT available to the public.
It wouldn't hurt to put application in
