Make sure you order your contacts at least two months ahead of an important event. I ordered mine and it’s been one month already and I still have not received them. I have been calling the Costco Optical department to check up on them and they keep saying the same “it will take 5-7 more days for them to come, we will call you.” I have an Ariana Grande concert tonight and it will be my first concert and I didn’t expect Costco Optical employees to not do their job and I thought I’d have them by now. Now I will only see a singing and dancing blurry blob on stage. Save yourself and order from somewhere else unless you can wait however long they want.

No, you need a membership to purchase the frames and lenses. You can get your eyes checked without needing a membership though.

I really don't know the answer to that. But since you're going to have a prescription done locally, maybe go online and use 1-800 Contacts.
I believe you need a membership to buy glasses and contacts but not to get your eyes checked and get a prescription. You can always go elsewhere for glasses/contacts as long as you have a prescription. Sure, it's not as convenient but I do recommend the optometrist - although I can't think of his name at the moment - he's good though and I've been seeing optometrists for 30+ years. Hope that helps! :-)
