What a beautiful piece of history and the owners actually care about you! Brian, the owner, is so knowledgeable of the history, especially the B&B, and is willing to sit an talk it and the area. No ghost visitors this trip but everything else was great even though we were rained out. Guest rooms are rustic and of period so one shouldn't expect the Hilton, but very comfortable and clean with baths/showers close to room (don't forget a bathrobe). Coffee is on about 7 and breakfast around 8...mmmm so good. Brian was a wonderful host and we will absolutely be booking again! THANK YOU...the MARINE!👋👏👌

Our stay at Sumpter Bed & Breakfast was perfect for our one night in the area. The drive into town was a beautiful setting to step back in time and leave the world behind. The town gave you a feel of authenticity for the days gone by, where weary travelers came in search of opportunity. We loved that it was still “rough”, unconsumed by commercial investments as many historic towns have become. Brian, our host, made us welcome in his home, feeling more like visiting family than staying among strangers. We were free to enjoy the space how we pleased, which offered a perfect relaxing experience. The rooms were tiny and rustic, but felt authentic to the story of the building. I would have loved to stay a couple nights and explore this historic area further.

This is, by far, the best place I've ever stayed. For anyone interested in history, adventure, friendly hosts, and great vibes, this is the place for you. The owner and his family were beyond wonderful and we're glad to tell us all about the history of the building and it's town. My friend and I were there for a ghost investigation, and to our surprise and delight, they keep hand-written records by previous guests that detail their own experiences. We had an amazing stay and a lovely breakfast, and I recommend this bed and breakfast to everyone who passes through the area. Thanks for having us, Brian!

Awesome place to stay to experience the rich history of the building and town for that matter. The proprietors were great and very accommodating! A group of 4 of us had run of the entire guest area, so that was fun as well to not inconvenience others. Brought some basic ghost hunting gear, but we're more into the experience of being with good friends that we didn't invest much time looking for the "other" guests. Breakfast was wonderful, and I would love to make another trip back!
