Expensive but clean and they don't play music over the loud speakers at all, that alone gets 5 stars from me. Oh and the guys bathroom sauna is always up and running

I've enjoyed the gym itself-- i.e equipment/etc. However, the service/cleanliness/etc. is mediocre at best and I've been a member at golds for years strictly due to convenience (honestly just free parking). The front desk attendants aren't overly rude, but they also are rarely friendly and/or helpful with questions. The gym doesn't seem very well attended to either as paper towels, spray bottles, and hand sanitizers are often empty (I go most mornings and the same ones are empty virtually every day so are clearly never refilled). Golds clearly knows that is is the biggest and has the best location and does not need to provide great service/cleanliness to remain in business. Additionally, anything administrative is a nightmare. I've had issues with charges, adjusting my plan, etc. and everything is handled by a 1800 number that is EXTREMELY difficult to get through to. I am moving out of the area and had to cancel my membership and was just on hold for 21 min to simply verbally tell someone in the corporate calling center that I was cancelling, because apparently you aren't able to cancel at the gym itself. Unfortunately, there just aren't many gyms (outside of niche Orange Theory Fitness-type places) in the area to give Golds the competition in needs to actually provide value to its customers.

This is not a good quality gym and from a corporate level golds facilities do not care about maintaining proper temperature control in their facilities. This was the temperature (84 degrees) in the gym today and this is not new. When you’re trying to do cardio you would be better off going outside since there would at least be fresh air and the same temp. Until it officially becomes warm full-time they will not bother to maintain AC on the warmer days of spring and winter. This is the DMV, random warm days are nothing new but golds has shown they do not care whatsoever about addressing this. I’ve experienced this temperature numerous times at multiple golds locations. The only reason I’m giving three stars is because the instructors here are amazing. However there are also good instructors at other facilities and I have begun looking because allowing it to be 84 degrees so this facility can save money is unacceptable.

Submitted a review when I signed up a few months ago, but I keep getting emails from Gold's to submit another one. Since my feedback has been requested multiple times, I will summarize the highlights here. The weights at the Ballston gym …Thanks for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry your experience didn’t match your expectations. Please feel free to reach out to our Member Experience team ([email protected]) so we can make sure your next experience is up to the Gold's Standard.

I pay ~$35/month.
I pay $30 bi-weekly total is $60 per month. So you pay $6 extra... don't know what for.
