Heceta Head Lighthouse is a working lighthouse, perched atop 305 meters (1,000 feet) high Heceta Head, 21 kilometers (13 miles) north of Florence. The light atop the 17 meters (56 feet) tower was first illuminated in 1894 and now flashes a white beam for eight seconds every minute. Visible for 39 kilometers (21 nautical miles or 24 miles), it remains Oregon’s most powerful lighthouse beam. The Heceta Head Lighthouse and Light Keeper’s home were built around 1894. Both are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is said Heceta Head Lighthouse is the most photographed ones in the United States. The Heceta Lighthouse B&B, in the Light Keeper’s home, is perched on a cliff with a magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean and the beach below. Paths from the Light Keeper’s Home lead both to the beach and to the lighthouse. Visitors can book a room with ocean views and imagine the life of a lightkeeper. Excellent place. I came here for the ghost stories and the spirits of this place did not disappoint. That, along with the other complimentary stuff of the Bed and Breakfast were fantastic. Cheese, crackers and your choice of Beer or Wine upon arrival, the scenery around the B & B, the walk to the Lighthouse (Day or Night), the seven course brunch in the morning and last but certainly not least, the ghosts of Heceta. Would love to come back and would highly recommend.

I cannot stress how amazing this place is. The staff are so warm and inviting and know you by name. This is not your typical hotel stay. You get to know the other guests while enjoying complimentary wine and cheeses and playing boaed games by the fire. At night, visit the light house and partake in the otherworldy history of this place while the ocean roars beneath you. The seven course breakfast is fresh and ladden with herbs from the garden. This is a phenomenal experiance you wont soon forget.

Heceta Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast provided an amazing backdrop and setting for my brother's recent wedding. The setting is rugged, beautiful, and ripe with history. The staff of the facility were kind and gregarious, and also quite welcoming. The history inside the bed and breakfast itself can take more time then you have in your visit to discover. One of the better consistent narratives is of the gray lady ghost, also known as Rue. If you are a paranormal aficionado I would recommend you research the stories before you visit. Listening to the amount of things being pushed around on the hardwood floors during the middle of the night, especially up in the locked attic was cool. There is no feeling of dread, just benign wondering and a feeling of being a caretaker. So if you are up for a rich historical experience in a beautiful setting, I would recommend a visit to this delightful location. The Bed & Breakfast is open to the public after 11 AM for guided tours.
