Last month, O’Sullivan Installs did the siding and large window replacement on my 1926 Gabrielle Colonial Home, and let me just say WOW! My home came out beautiful! To say that prior to the new siding my house was the “eye soar” of my neighborhood would not be an exaggeration. Not anymore, in fact, I have received many, many complements from neighbors and friends. Complements not only for the siding, but for the professionalism, cleanliness, and dependability of the installers. These guys worked HARD!! Seriously, they worked from dawn to dusk, and the quality and craftsmanship of the install is amazing. They definitely take PRIDE in their work! From the sales team to the installers, I was so pleased with the thoroughness, suggestions, and honesty of them all. They are straight to the point and what they say is exactly what you can expect. I obtained 3 quotes from installers. O’Sullivan was in the middle for cost. The reason I chose them is they came across as having a lot of experience, knew about potential problems that may occur giving the age of the home, and was prepared for any issues that could arise. No B.S.! The quote was on-point, and I did not incur any surprise expenses in the end. It took a while to get the product, which is life these days, but that was fully explained to me in the beginning. So again, no painful surprises! Any questions I had, whether through email, text, or calling the office, was always promptly responded to. I also need to mention, that I found out through my neighbors that on my street they watched as an elderly women’s car had a flat tire, and without hesitation the installers stopped what they were doing, fixed her tire, and had her on her way!! When does that happen anymore??!! Bravo gentlemen, BRAVO!!! Tim, buy these guys a burger and beer!! So, I say, Hire O’Sullivan Installs…. you will be glad you did!

O'Sullivan Installs put in windows and two exterior doors for me in 2011. The work was excellent and timely. However, that wasn't the end of the story. In 2021, my front door sill seal became frayed and required replacement. I was also looking to have a third door replaced. Even though I am now out of their service area, Tim arranged for the seal to be replaced at no cost to me, and connected me with an installer in my area, even providing the previous order information to make it easy to match my existing door. This should give you a sense of the level of professionalism he maintains. A company of rare quality.

I hired these guys for all new vinyl siding, two new bay windows, and a new front door. Not the cheapest, but definitely NOT the most expensive, especially when comparing to PHRG, Dabella, etc. They are the real deal and you get what pay for, which is a high quality job using high quality materials and high attention to detail. The owner Tim O’Sullivan was a pleasure to work with, as was his entire team. His crew is a well oiled machine. Always arrived early AM and was here until the end of the day unto the project got done, which took about a week. Cleaned up well after every day. They do the job right. They wrapped existing window trim in pvc aluminum vinyl. Was skeptical how that would look but very professionally done with mitered corners. Looks like new windows! I was worried about rotted plywood and sills being covered over (as PHRG apparently did on a past job) but they pointed out all areas of rot to me, talked to me about it, and replaced everything that needed to be replaced before wrapping with the aluminum and installation of the siding. They also treated all surfaces with insecticide and fungicide. They ALSO corrected some bad work done by previous contractors with minimal added cost. Attention to detail was amazing. You can tell the crew loves what they do because they do it well. They were always in a good mood, singing and laughing. They specialize in siding, windows, doors, and that is pretty much all they do so they are the best at it. And I have peace of mind knowing that if there are any issues, I just need to call them and they will take care of it. I have a 1972 house with original exterior siding, old front door, originalcrappy bow windows. Now it looks like brand new construction!

O'Sullivan Installs did an awesome job. They did our windows & siding and were excellent in the whole process. They also cleaned everything on each day before they left . The windows look spectacular. I can’t praise the work enough. My house looks absolutely new again by just doing the siding and windows. That's how good they work. Thank you everyone involved with this project.

We recommend using vinyl siding for your house as it is durable, low in cost and easy to maintain. In fact, it requires almost zero maintenance, just scrubbing or washing with soapy water will work. It doesn’t get damaged by water or pests. Its flexibility makes it withstand wind and storms. While, wood siding is timeless, strong and attractive, it requires maintenance periodically. And it is likely to get damaged by pests and heavy rainfall.
Yes, definitely. Common sense dictates that you should avoid opting for wood sidings if you live somewhere where you expect wildfires. Instead, opt for a non-combustible material such as stucco or fiber cement. Doing this in addition to other preventive measures can help keep your house safe to quite an extent during a wildfire.
Upgrading the sidings in your home to a more durable material like stucco can surely add value to your home. Moreover, doing so can also help you cut down on your fire insurance premium. You can also consider simply adding stucco siding on top of your existing wood sidings to bring down the cost and time it would take.
It all comes down to what you can afford; a re-paint or a replace, but we recommend that you replace your T1-11 at once. The life span of T1-11 is short despite its low cost in the market. If you wish to repaint your siding, you are more than welcome to do so, but painting T1-11 takes a lot more effort than just simply putting on a paint.
Maintenance-free siding does not exist. Even vinyl siding requires regular cleaning and repair to keep it in proper condition. However, wood siding does require considerably more maintenance as opposed to other siding materials. Depending upon the weather conditions, it is possible that you will need to paint and stain the siding regularly.
Although wood siding is one of the most beautiful of all sidings, it is tedious to maintain. There is more than just basic cleaning required to maintain your wood siding. Maintenance includes painting your siding after every five years, cleaning annually, removing rust stains using diluted oxalic acid, applying wood cleaner to aging and discolored siding and replacing damaged sidings, if there are any, with new sidings.
Asbestos is toxic and has carcinogenic properties which makes it dangerous. Homes built before 1980s contain asbestos, but it was soon dumped because of its obvious health risks. Historically speaking, asbestos was an ingredient is different asphalt sidings. If your house is built after 1980s, there are rare chances of it containing asbestos. Modern asphalt siding does not contain asbestos because of its harmful effects.
Whether it is feasible or not, it really depends on the homeowner. Before you consider getting fiber cement siding, remember that fiber cement siding requires maintenance such as regular painting and caulking. It is not only difficult to install but time consuming as well. It absorbs moisture and is not very environment friendly. With so many options available in the market, we suggest choosing carefully which siding would work best for your project.
A time comes for every homeowner to reside their house. There are several signs that depict your house needs residing. If your siding has begun to rot or crumble, there are gaps and cracks in your siding, or your maintenance is overloading, it is time you reside your house. No matter how well you maintain the siding of your house, even for a well-maintained siding, there comes a time when repairing it back is not an option. You can call our siding contractor and schedule an inspection of your property.
There are many options available these days to create the perfect exterior of your home. The best siding option is vinyl siding, because of its popularity among homeowners. It is also easy to install and budget friendly. Wood siding gives a rich look to your exterior. Another great option is brick siding made from fired clay. Depends. In some cases, you don’t need to take off your old shingles to replace with new ones. Adding a new layer over the existing one is less expensive, involves less hassle and it can also serve as added protection from storms. But, you must take off your old shingle if you already have two layers of shingles on your roof, shingles are curling, leakage in your roof or if it does not support the weight anymore.
Most homeowners like to install their sidings horizontally as it looks aesthetically appealing. Horizontal siding is also less expensive option and can be replaced without being heavy on your pocket. It is also much easier to install as opposed to vertical siding. It is effective when it comes to keeping water away and there are less chances of wind damaging your horizontal siding.
Green stain on your siding is usually due to mildew, mold, moss or algae. When house siding turns green, the exterior appearance of the house begins to diminish. These organisms grow in shady and moist areas, so make sure you inspect your siding regularly. Ensuring that your vinyl is not exposed to ongoing moisture will prevent mildew or moss from growing on your siding.
Vinyl is the choice of every homeowner now a days. Although many other siding options are available, vinyl remains undisputedly the most popular in the market. It is superior to wood because it does not decay, it resists fading and it is cheap. It also provides appealing finish to your exterior in low price. Tough and durable, it does not rot with water compared to wood, which is easily damaged by water and loses its strength.
There are several grades and thickness options of vinyl siding. The standard thickness for vinyl siding is 0.035 inch, means that it should not be thinner than 0.035 inch. The thicker the siding, the more aesthetic deep cuts can be made. Thicker vinyl adds up to the energy efficiency and acts as noise barrier as well. Average residential vinyl siding is 0.044 inch.
Vinyl is usually the first choice of homeowners as it is cheapest and requires almost no maintenance. Unfortunately, vinyl siding cannot withstand extreme temperature. Brick is timeless choice, it is long lasting and looks fantastic. The maintenance requirements are low as well. Stucco on the other hand gives unique look to your house. it keeps your house cool during summers and warm in winters. In the end, it’s all about your preference, whatever siding you find best for your house.
House wraps are not easy to install, but to make your house energy efficient you must not skip it. Before you install house wrap, prime your wood siding first. Water is likely to condense on house wrap and it will penetrate wood siding and lift off the finish. It's crucial to prime the back side of boards before installing house wrap. Trim boards if needed to get perfect house wrap installed.
The dust and fibers from asbestos is often linked with lung cancer if inhaled. However, if they are kept wet, then this danger is effectively countered. So, although removing asbestos isn’t dangerous on its own if done right, there are many other accidents and mishaps that can occur such as you falling off the ladder or having the tiles fall down on you. This is why it is better to get help from a professional siding contractor.

Hole in a vinyl siding can be repaired easily with the help of our professional siding contractors, if the holes are smaller in size. Smaller holes can be repaired by using caulk of same color as your exterior siding. Just squirt generous amount of caulking into a hole and allow it to dry, scrape off the excess caulk and there it is, the hole in your siding is repaired. For larger holes, use foil tape at the back side to cover the hole, put the siding in its place and fill with caulk.

When comparing both fiber brick and vinyl siding, vinyl takes the lead due to its durability, low cost and wide range of colors and designs. Fiber siding also provides a variety of designs. Fiber siding’s durability is questionable because it absorbs moisture and its rigid structure is more likely to crack. When it comes to maintenance, vinyl siding pulls way ahead of fiber brick as vinyl does not require much upkeep. Fiber brick siding needs to be painted and caulked periodically. When siding your house vinyl siding is always a better option than fiber brick.
