I'm having complications with breathing due to covid and I called just to be told it's an hour wait at 3:15 p.m. and she continues to tell me they close at 4 which is only 45 minutes away and they stopped seeing patients at 3:45. I explained to her that I am having issues with breathing due to covid. she says that's fine come in but just so you know, we stop taking patients at 3:45 and it's an hour wait. I'm so confused. I don't understand why she continues to tell me all this especially when I told her I most likely would need a chest x-ray. So since it's 3:15 I guess I have to wait till tomorrow to be seen. This is disgusting! By the way most of your MGH facilities for Urgent Care are not seeing covid patients but they don't have it posted nor tell patients that. You find out when you actually get there when you trying to be seen and driving around from one facility to another. Don't go to Salem they are horribly Rude and don't go to Lynn on Lynnfield Street. You wonder why people are dying from covid complications? This is why, because they can't get seen.

I had a very good experience at this Urgent Care. I came in at 7pm on a Monday. The front desk staff, the nurses, and Dr. Roberto Caganda were all very helpful and kind. Thank you for providing me with such good and efficient care.

Do not go here if you have a baby. I went in with my son a women and her daughter checked in before me and they were called in on time. I was supposed to be next since it goes in order. 4 adults came in after me. They called a woman in before my son and a guy. I went up asked about my son was told I was next. Then the nurse came out and literally said she was taking the next person because they were an adult. Mind you my baby is sick and we already waited there for 2 hours. But when I get up to leave I’m the bad one

I was seen here by Dr. Scheufele. Without going into the whole story I asked for her to do a certain test based off of my symptoms (I’m a nurse myself). She said it was not necessary and to just go home and hydrate. I was still sick and missed multiple shifts of work so I got in touch with my PCP who ordered the test I had asked for and within hours I was diagnosed with an infection that is the leading pathogenic cause of Guillain Barré syndrome (a neurological condition that leads to paralysis that can last weeks and cause permanent nerve damage). My PCP immediately ordered antibiotics for me and I am on the mend. Had I listened to to her advice to just go home I could be paralyzed by now.

Questions & Answers

I am in Revere and having (severe) pain in the occipital area of my head... Are you able to do an MRI and if yes what is (usually) your best time to come in? Thank you.

It is not possible to say what should be done without an examination. It is not common for MRIs to be performed for headaches. If you are seen and it is recommended that you undergo an MRI it can usually be performed within a few days across the street depending on your insurance approval. It is hard to predict when the best time to come in will be but Mondays are generally the busiest and Sundays the least busy. We are open 8A-4P on the weekends and 8-8 most weekdays. Please note that we are closed on Thanksgiving and open 8A-4P this Friday.

I think I may have a hematoma on my lower leg. The car door hit it. It is swollen and very red. If i need it drained do you do that at urgent care?

Hematomas and abscesses can be drained if felt to be necessary though many hematomas can be safely monitored without drainage. Those that are too large or in a dangerous area may indeed need to be seen at the ED.

I need an XRay on my arm will my insurance cover it? How do I go about making an appt. Do I need a referral from my doctor?

There are no appointments in the urgent care. It is first come first serve except for emergencies. You do not need a referral from your doctor but we will obtain one from your insurer. You are welcome to call or to come by to ask about a specific insurance as far as coverage but as long as your insurance is contracted with us we don't generally see problems getting regular x-rays covered.
