Granted we came through in the summer but this has to be the easiest airport on the planet. Loved the friendly staff, TSA helpfulness and ease to n getting thru from start to getting on the plane! I know it’s a very different experience in the winter but in summer this has been amazing!!!

This is a nice friendly small town airport that isn't really very busy doing the summer although I would imagine that it is crowded and congested during ski season

This review is more about the Waystation "snack bar" than the airport. But first to be fair to the airport I love that I can fly direct to steamboat more and not have to drive from Denver. I would give five plus stars just for that. But, this is more about the snack bar and the fact that they charge $4.35 for a can of soda, not a 20oz bottle mind you, a can. That's highway robbery and you know it. I know there is a cost to do business and that a profit needs to be made but a 400% profit is an insult to the customer, especially when you don't have the prices posted. Are you embarrassed about the prices because you know what I'm saying is true??? Is that why they are not posted? You should be ashamed of yourselves for charging those prices in a small community airport. So to the airport management, if you own the snack bar, the "shame on you" comments is directed right at you. If you do not own it then I would have a conversation with them and let them know that they are tarnishing your great reputation.

Skipping the drive from Denver and hopping straight to the snow sounds good in practice but in real life is just way too many problems. I’m really not sure how this airport has 4.4 stars considering it’s such a mess. There is. MASSIVE issue with transportation here all year round where once you land it’s nearly impossible to get out and your stuck in the airport for hours with no rental cars (even if you have a reservation), no taxis or Ubers and only 2 grouchy shuttle companies that aren’t worth their salt, overpriced and make you wait HOURS to get out. Unless you live in steamboat and parking ur car at airport or have an absolutely sure ride picking you up, just do the 3 hour drive from Denver to steamboat I guarantee you it’s faster. Otherwise you’re at the mercy of these extortionate shuttle companies. Plus the airport is about 1 hour from the ski slopes so it’s not even that close, and the airport is much more vulnerable to inclement whether (which isn’t airports fault but worth mentioning) you’re really better off just driving from Denver . Also airport is lacking a jetway so you get totally soaked in rain or snow walking to the building. Between delays, snow, lack of transport, and long distance to ski area you won’t save time from just hopping in the rental from Denver

The nearest hotel to the airport would be in Craig, Colorado. 16 miles away. Nicer hotel would be in Steamboat Springs , Colorado 25 miles away.
Mid December to end of March except Delta Airlines is not flying into HDN this year
Only 2 UAX flights during summer to/from Denver.
Alpine taxi
Delta, American and Alaska airlines all use this airport
Yes..mostly SUV's.
Yep. Check your favorite flight search/booking program for flight availability
Not private, I flew in there through United airlines on my way back to Washington IAD via Denver for some reason.
