I came here a birthday dinner tonight and they don't seem like they tag themselves as being a steakhouse but their steaks are REALLY good. I got the bacon wrapped filet mignon and it comes with salad, a side (like mashed potatoes, fries, or baked potato for +$2), biscuit, grilled onions, and grilled mushrooms. It's a little pricey at $27 but it's SUPER worth it. They have other items that are less expensive but I've only been here twice and gotten the bacon wrapped filet mignon both times and it was SO DELICIOUS!!! The waiters/waitresses are really nice too and they kept our drinks filled (at a table of 10 people). I definitely recommend this place to anybody for a date night or even just a nice lunch. Plus, they're in the stockyards area so there's lots of bars, shops, and other things to see in the area while you're there. I always look forward to going back whenever possible.

Great old school diner atmosphere and very hospitable staff. One waitress wore a T-shirt that read "For the best steak in Dallas, go to The Star Cafe in Fort Worth." Based on this, I ordered the ribeye. It came out extremely over cooked and tough. I couldn't eat it. I haven't tried anything else, but everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. So I can only assume they have good food otherwise. They did comp my meal when they saw that I didn't eat it. So you know they care about their customers

The only reason there are 2 stars is because of the fried okra here-delicious. The experience was horrible and embarrassing. The server was completely out of line with political views that should NEVER be revealed in a restaurant to a patron ordering a drink. Second, food took extraordinary long for a simple order. DO NOT EAT HERE!

The Shoe

Steak was overcooked and the food was overpriced - especially $8 for a small slice of chocolate cake. Seems they've decided to extort the tourists rather than provide good food at a reasonable value.
