I used this company to inspect and clean two chimney flues. They cleaned and used the camera to inspect the fireplace flue and showed me the pics. The guy quoted me 10k to make the fireplace operational. This seems like a familiar numbers after reading other reviews. He was pitching cast in place liner with no other alternatives. The second flue was for the furnace. I did not see them inspect with camera and they did not spend much time at all on it but was still charged 365.00. After they were done I was quoted 4200.00 to line furnace flue. What??? To make this story short I called another company in and had them look at both flues and all was not as bad as this company was portraying. The new company I called in quoted me 1800.00 to line furnace flue and said the fireplace flue was not in that bad of shape and quoted me a much cheaper alternative. I don't like writing reviews but this was warranted given the drastic difference in pricing. Update 8/26 I received a call from the owner and he spent the time to explain and clear up alot of information that was not communicated to me from the beginning. After our phone call my opinion about this company has changed. I wish he was the one who did the service on the flues. Our phone call was pleasant on both sides and it was all miscommunication that led up to my frustration.

What a disaster of an experience. We had Sam come to service our chimney. It started off good, they were friendly, seemed like they knew what they were doing and attentive. Sam provided an overview of what they would do and shared a bit about how the chimney worked. From there it went down hill..at the end they came back with $2500 worth of repairs needed as the chimney was "unsafe". They also charged 2x what was quoted over the phone. I called the women who booked the appointment with us and they agreed to refund 1/2 the cost due to the miscommunication...still have no received the refund. Today is what broke my patience. We had a second chimney company out for a second opinion on the repairs that were described. The company came in and asked when the chimney was last serviced and cleaned. I explained the situation and their reply was "did they clean the flue area?" The amount of leaves and dirt they sucked out was incredible. It's like Sam did nothing. Mind you it was a 2 week difference so no way had it filled up with dirt that fast. I would highly suggest you look else where. These guys were not honest and were trying to make a quick buck hoping I didn't get a second opinion. I wouldn't let this company near my home again and suggest if you are reading this you do another quick google search for another company in the area.

Adding to my review, after an annual cleaning. Andrique was on time and professional. He did a great job cleaning the fireplace, and left the home spotless. It was a pleasure to use this service, and we will use it annually. I was referred to Billy Sweet Chimney Sweeps for installation by Yankee Fireplace, where we bought our zero clearance wood burning fireplace for our family room renovation. We were on a tight schedule, due to some unforeseen delays and incorrect information form another company, and BSCS were amazingly accommodating. John explained the process to me over the phone, and Ed came right out to look at the job. It was a challenging installation that had to be coordinated closely with our general contractor, but they made it work and had it done before our Thanksgiving deadline. We have already used it a few times, and it is wonderful—I can’t say enough about the great job they did and how happy I am with my wood burning fireplace!!

Yes we work on both historic and newly constructed homes. In fact, we appreciate the beauty of your historic home as much as you do, and we specialize in rebuilding and restoring chimneys in historic homes that maintain their timeless beauty while providing all the safety and efficiency you need. For historic homeowners, it’s hard to know how thoroughly the former owners maintained the chimney. And with all those years of withstanding the effects of combustion and the elements, it’s possible that hazards are hiding somewhere in your system. We can find hidden issues in your chimney (including the need to bring it up to current standards and codes), and make it look just as great as it functions. Whether you have hard-to-find bricks or other unique circumstances, we’re committed to finding what you need and making your chimney and home the best it can be.
Does your chimney lean, leak, smell or look like it’s pulling away from your roof? There’s a lot that could be leading to your problem, and a certified Billy Sweet Chimney Sweep technician can investigate inside and outside your chimney to determine what needs to be done to make it safe, functional and efficient. We’ll complete a thorough chimney inspection — including detailed digital imaging using the Chim-Scan® camera system and the Wohler Vis2000-Pro, which we’ll share with you — and recommend the best course of action for your chimney and home. No matter the problem, Billy Sweet Chimney Sweep can do the work necessary to ensure that your chimney is a safe and beautiful chimney.
Hi Sparky! The National Fire Protection Association and the Chimney Safety Institute of America recommend inspecting and sweeping your chimney at least once a year. Some chimneys vent heating systems as well. If your chimney has a flue for venting your heating system, that part should be inspected and swept as well. Note I mention inspection as well as cleaning. This is important because your safety is dependent not just on the removal of the flammable creosote, but also dependent on the condition of your chimney and fireplace. Defects in the chimney can be hazardous. I hope you find this helpful, thank you for asking! Billy Sweet
