Too bad most people think methadone is bad or causes deaths. Methadone does not cause death the user who abused is responsible for their death.
Devyn Demarco
PEOPLE DIE BECAUSE THEYRE IRRESPONSIBLE AND USE OR DOUBLE UP THEIR MEDICATION WHEN THEY KNOW THEY HAVE NO BUSINESS DOING SO. They use while on methadone and instead of blaming their choices and mistakes its a lot easier for families to blame the system instead of the idiot that took benzos and painkillers while they were supposed to be clean. STOP BLAMING THE PEOPLE THAT TRY TO HELP, AND START BLAMING THE ADDICTION THAT PUT THEM THERE TO BEGIN WITH. METHADONE IS ALWAYS A GOOD EXCUSE FOR SOMEONES DOWNFALL, BUT WHOS FAULT IS IT WHEN THEYRE FOUND UNDER A BRIDGE DEAD WITH A NEEDLE HANGING OUT OF THEIR ARM BECAUSE THEY CHOSE TO QUIT A MONITORED TREATMENT PROGRAM IN ORDER TO USE AGAIN? GOD FORBID THE GOVERNMENT FOR TRYING TO MEET PEOPLE HALF WAY AND HELP THEM. MAYBE THEY SHOULD TELL EVERYONE TO SCREW OFF AND STOP TRYING TO HELP SO EVERYONE CAN JUST GET HIGH AND DIE. NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENDS, PEOPLE BLAME THE MEDICATION. IF METHADONE WORKED LIKE A TYLENOL EVERYONE WOULD BE USING. ITS THE ADDICTIVE NATURE AND HABIT THATS TO BLAME. ID RATHER BE ADDICTED TO METHADONE THAN BREAKING THE LAW, STEALING, LYING, AND SCREWING PEOPLE OVER FOR AN ENDLESS SICKENING DRUG CYCLE THAT WILL EVENTUALLY KILL ME. I CAN BE A PRODUCTIVE MEMBER OF SOCIETY WITH A CLEAR HEAD, MINUS ALL THE SICKNESS. With methadone you have a choice. You can get off slowly, or at a regular pace. Yes you're going to be sick, but it's not as bad as going into full blown withdrawal and not being able to get ahold of your dealer for 4 days. All the over the counter medication in the world couldn't take the edge off. Sometimes the system sucks, but it's better than doing it alone, because if you're here in the first place, you dont have very good decision making skills and it needs to happen. Regardless of why people hate or blame this medication, I can tell you a million positive things I've done since I started it, but I can't name one positive thing I did while I was using.

People losing loved ones and blaming the clinic most likely aren't telling you that the person who died either got new meds from another doctor and did not report to clinic like they are supposed to or are using other drugs or Xanax while on ,methadone and then die. Methadone is for opioid addicts if someone does die directly from the use of methadone alone they cheated the system and lied about their habit. Methadone can help the sick and addicted get their lives back on track. But before you choose methadone maintenance make sure it's for you do your homework there are plenty of ways to get educated today with the Internet and now data and cell phones that access the Internet. Mixing certain drugs with methadone can be lethal. Normally the addicted get better on methadone and do not die if they are working the program honestly. The clinic does do random drug testing to try and stop the abuser from mixing the wrong drugs. The clinic does not just keep upping your dose. Only way your dose is adjusted is if you ask for it and there are questions you must answer. If someone is being dishonest about their dose and trying to just get high then they are risking their own neck. Methadone does not get you a high like Heroin or Dilaudid does. Most who blame methadone/clinic from loss of a loved one are hurting and do not know how the system works.

To Rhonda, I'm very sorry what happened to your stepson. I really am. As for the suboxone, there are qualifications that have to be met before being allowed to get on it. I am not sure what your stepsons deal was. And no, it's not all about tapering off, it's about managing the addiction. Some people need to go up first. As for people selling it in the parking lot, the police have been notified numerous times by the company. The police have even been there waiting for people to show up to arrest them. Don't blame your stepsons issues on the place that helps thousands of people daily. A person has to be completely off all other forms of drugs or they get released from the program. Its a legit helping service. Your situation is sad, yes, but PAR helps people.

Yes. It's free for people on SSI. Get help! I was in the same boat and I don't have any desire to use at all
You can transfer. I recommend contacting the clinic you are thinking of transferring to and ask what is required. You should also ensure all of your paperwork has been received by the clinic you wish to transfer to. Many times I've witnessed people who transfer only to find their paperwork has not been received. Also check the fee schedules as varying clinics have varying fees. It may be helpful to ask the clinic you wish to attend if you can bring in hard copies of your records and if they can accept them. So in short, contact the clinic you wish to attend for all the required information needed for transfer.
It is an outpatient methadone clinic that offers various addiction treatment options including Suboxone, Vivitrol and Methadone. There may be other treatment options available, so it is best if you call them.
