My initial visit I was a bit nervous but between nurse Marci and Dr. Blackshear by the time I left I was confident and couldn't wait to start the program. Dr. Blackshear took the time and spent hours with me explaining each step of the process. The do's and don'ts, the what if's and the why's. He talked to me in layman's terms so I understood my metabolism, any effects from the plan, or side effects I may experience in detail. He did not push any supplements or other added expenditures. He is a very intelligent man but speaks in terms I understood. He answered any questions I had . And he has a sense of humor, which to me is very important. The entire staff presented in a friendly, knowledgeable and professional manner. So far I would recommend the team at PWLC to friends and family. I will update my review along the journey.

Yes. We use one of two options, along with a Very Low Calorie Ketogenic diet.
Ms. Thorp, We do offer an optional weekly injection called Metabolic Support Injection (MSI). It contains a combination of amino acids and B vitamins, administered to aid metabolically with staying in ketosis. We also use one of the isomers of B12 in the injection. Injections are given weekly with each followup visit if desired and each patient has the option of coming in mid-week and receiving a second injection at no additional cost. Injections of vitamin B12 are often given in weight loss programs, but you should know that vitamin B12 DOES NOT make you lose weight! Also, the FDA has stated that B12 has no weight loss properties. So why do we use it? B12 does give a mild boost in energy and sense of well being which is helpful to patients in our program, particularly in the first few weeks. This is accomplished by raising serotonin levels in the brain. Again, this shot is not mandatory in our program. Those who elect to skip the MSI do just as well as those who take it.
We use one of two FDA approved appetite suppressant medications in combination with a Very Low Calorie Ketogenic Diet combined with moderate daily exercise in order to achieve significant weight and fat reduction. Dr. Bill
