Absolute worst Customer Service phone call I've ever had the misfortune of being a part of. "Ty" needs additional training in understanding when someone is mad at a situation that was completely avoidable if NYS had actually communicated versus being made at them personally. Of course someone is going to be upset after waiting more than the standard proccessing time (5 months) only to find out the lack of movement on the case is a lack of communication between NYS and the former employer and then NYS not telling you about it until you have wasted over 3 hours on two different phone calls. Edit: It gets even better. My former employer called me back and let me know that the State has not yet even requested the paperwork from my former employer that "Ty" said was holding up my case. When HR called the employer line they were told that the state is behind 6 months to 1 year in processing withdrawals. Essentially cases aren't even getting worked by the state until the 6 month mark hits (which is month longer than the normal time of 5 months).

After reading the other reviews I feel comforted. Misery loves company. Over an hour listening to tasteless music and repeated robot telling me to go on line with questions, I gave up. I am old and will likely die before I get a simple answer. Oh well. In another life perhaps I will get a "REPRESENTATIVE".

Terrible service. Trying to help my mom get my late dad's pension and No one ever answers. Someone should run against Tom DiNapoli and use the reviews he4re as campaign material.

I am seeing your wife's personal info on the Internet. You should take it down.
You don't specify if it's a military pension, social security or corporate retirement. Different procedures

It doesn't get better. They even updated the system. Even with that they still use two systems. Going down in person will probably get the job done. No appointment needed in Albany. You can walk in. Every where else you need an appointment. Good luck. I'm still scratching my head after putting in a request to buy back time two years ago. I still haven't been able to do that yet. Smh... Oh. If you don't feel the person you met with satisfied you, wait to speak to someone else. Not everyone you sit with knows their job.You may get a different answer every time. Sorry..
no it's 7 years and 1 month
If your a member you should receive a yearly update regarding your years of service from the comptroller. If not, you should contact the retirement system to see if they have your current residence..
Tommy is correct, look into deferred compensation if you want to set up an additional account.
Tommy is correct, but you can look into deferred compensation also.
Yes they can. But depending on the Option you choose at retirement there are reductions to your retirement. You should speak to a Retirement Information Representative prior to you retiring to get a complete picture.
