I wish I could give them a 0 star review. On July 26th, our dog was spayed at Banfield. The first bad experience we had was 72hrs post opt. when our dog was not interested in drinking water. We contacted Banfield with concerns and were told to bring her in on Saturday for an IV if hadn’t consumed any water. She hadn’t had any water by Saturday, so we called Banfield and were told an IV was out of the question. Banfield then told us to take her to the emergency vet because there was nothing they could do. In a panic we contacted the emergency vet thinking something was completely wrong. When we spoke with the emergency vet they were able to tell us that this was completely normal and that it was due to the fluids she was given during the surgery. They even advised that there was no need to bring her into the emergency vet since we were mixing her food with water. The following Saturday, August 6th we had noticed there was some fluid coming from part of the incision. We contacted Banfield with questions and were scheduled to come in the following day for a checkup. During this check-up our pup was seen by the doctor for a total of 2 minutes. When the nurse of came back out with her, she stated that she was “good to go”and that we could take the cone off her. My husband then asked, “are you sure we can take the cone off and is she able to play with her brother?” The nurse responded with “yes, you are good to go.” Following what the doctor/nurse had stated, we took the cone off. BIG MISTAKE! We ended up in the emergency vet later that night due to one of the stitches coming undone. For a vet to tell us that our dog is “good to go” when clearly, she wasn’t, is completely careless and irresponsible. Not to mention, my husband received a phone call yesterday from the receptionist asking how our visit was and my husband told her it was horrible. She then told my husband that she would have the branch manager call him back since they were out on lunch, and neither of us have received any phone call! This is a HUGE MISTAKE on Banfield’s part that could have resulted in a way worse scenario had we not been home! The fact that this location has not even given us a call back is absurd and just shows how much they truly care about the careless mistakes they make. We will definitely not be returning!

The plusses: reasonable fees, monthly payment plan available, open weekends. However, I will not be staying with them. They refused to let me into the exam room with my skittish dog citing liability, not COVID. Then the vet would t even come out and speak to me about an issue of concern for my dog's health. He or she kept sending the tech out. On what animal planet is a pet owner supposed to give up their pet children to an unknown supposed vet and feel good about that? I have no way of knowing owing what kind of rapport the invisible vet established with my pet or whether I have any sense of confidence in his or advice. Highly unprofessional in my opinion.

Brought my dogs in for preventative care and an eye irritation on the other. Was quoted an amount and at time of pick up the bill was about 120% more of the quoted cost. Lady at counter was nice but unfortunately blamed the Vet for not being upfront with costs. Very professional to mis lead loyal customers.

I haven’t been able to get an appointment or walk in appointment for my dog who has a cysts infection on her side. I called around Banfield yesterday and South Riding Banfield was accommodating. The staff offered a walk in and drop off at 7am today. Drop off my dog at 7am and the staff who checked her was great and explained the preliminary procedure they were going to do and the cost upfront. I received a phone call from doctor less than two hours and explained what is going on and the treatment plan for my dog and will ready for pick up. Kudos to the staff of Banfield at South Riding. Got a thorough explanation on the medication my dog was prescribed and even cut the pills to the correct dose so I didn’t have to do it. Thank you so much for the outstanding customer service experience.

You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Since wellness plans are not insurance, they do not include treatment for unpredictable or abnormal conditions, however discounts would apply. Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
