We stopped by just to see if it was open and walked 2 miles (to the river and back) to get a feel for it. We didn't see any broken down bridges - new boardwalk at the riverside - very nice! Lots of birds. Water irises. Easy hike. We done mind the tree roots. You can bring your dog! A fun side trip that got us away from the rush hour traffic on or way home from a different adventure.

One of the wildest trails in the area. It might be dangerous when the floor is wet because the terrain is covered by roots and it is very slippery. The wildlife is gorgeous, it is a must go for wildlife enthusiasts. Wearing boots is helpful.

This is an amazing hiking trail, with wildlife and gorgeous scenery every step of the way! Almost every time I go out there, I've seen otters crossing the trail and a bunch of wild hogs! Beware of pygmy rattlesnakes- they like to sunbathe on the trail when the weather gets cooler. When covid hit, a lot of new people/families started hiking these trails more often and the litter got really bad. Please, please don't litter! Enjoy the trails and leave them even better than you found them! I always fill at least one grocery bag with garbage on my way out. Have fun!

Wow. Great trail. But I will say it is not for beginners. It's labeled as a "moderate" trail. I will give it that. I went into absolutely blind not knowing or reading prior that It was almost a 8 mile trail. At the 4 mile mark I was like...hm. this is a pretty hefty loop. But once we got to 5.25 (without a water bottle or anything) I sat down and googled the trail length and it was rough reading it was over 7 miles and we have 2 more + miles to go. The first half of the trail was pretty warm but once the sun was going down around 5pm and a thunderstorm was going to start rolling in it was cool and breezy. I love Field Herping for reptiles it's my biggest passion and joy in life so I saw lots of cool babies. Little gators. Lizards. Turtles and even baby Dusky Pygmy Rattlesnakes which was awesome they were adorable. My legs are going to be absolutely sore tomorrow. But I'm glad I did the entire 7+ mile trail.

No. Pretty sure I mentioned that. No one has updated Google Maps yet.
Hi Chad, it is temporarily closed. There was a sign posted that as of the 21st they would be closed for 2 weeks for parking expansion
It is a mix of broad walk and dirt trails I would say it's mostly dirt trails
Yes, on leash. The Trail narrows at a few places and there have been fairly large gators in the water just off the trail, but many people bring their dogs.
Bears poop in the woods... Once upon a time so did we LOL.
