I find most residents very friendly, there are a few who are always complaining about something, I keep away from downers such as this, bad mouthing can causing hard feelings and unhappy people

I have visited three times already. Today they bought us lunch as we are looking to get two rooms there, one in memory care and one in regular living. The food was great! We had soup, salad, two main entrees and dessert. They are all made from scratch and made on the premises. They do have several items made by other entities but we did not have any of that. They were all flavorful, fresh and made with quality ingredients. The serving sizes were smaller than a restaurant, but adequate especially since most of the residence are older with generally smaller appetites. The living quarters are adequately sized, but not furnished. They are freshly painted and look very well kept. The grounds are well kept as well. Overall this place is a great value especially compared with where we're currently residing. I believe the poor reviews I've seen are from people that had a one time exception to what seems to be a wonderful establishment. Definitely worth a look I will edit this review if anything is less that exceptional comes up in the future.

My mother was a resident at the Independant facility at Aston Gardens for 8 years. She was happy there but at 90 she had some medical and more cognitive issues that required more care. She moved to the Inn at Aston Garden and after ony 2 weeks went into Hospital. She pulled through but upon discharge from Sarasota Memorial I was told she would need to be evaluated by one of their nurses before she could to go back to her apartment.?? But they had no one available to send to Sarasota. The Social worker at Srq memorial talked to them to find out when they could get someone to evaluate and called their behavior unusual. I wish I had just put her in my car and drove her back the inn. As it was she was ambulated to manorcare for "rehab" which boils down to a facility profiting from barely meeting medicare requirements. I truly believe those managing this ALF are cooperative in this endeavor. It amounts to doing less work, all the while receiving $4800 a month for extra services and care on an empty room. They did not care that rehab for this patient was not in her best interest. She went ftom the hospital after a week with pneumonia into a highly public nursing facility for 8 weeks! with horrible food, a community 1x a week showering. She caught a intestinal virus, was dropped and dislocated her hip, etc. The Inn at Aston Gardens would not let her go back home. To her empty apartment at $4800 no. For xtra care services for which they never provided. Please note that an ALF cannot legally keep a resident, who is under hospice care, from her residence. This is how I finally got my mother home to die. She made it 9 as a hispice patient for 9 days back in her apartment. We had taken shifts to stay, and hired a private nurse overnight in the ALF facility till her end. Again, this was required for her to go back. I would think twice about entering this ALF facility.
