Volunteered at an event here. Staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. This morning, from the event center, we saw hot air balloons rising in the distance. We looked out and saw alligators and a crane, it was awesome. Folks that stayed overnight caught sight of a gorgeous crescent moon early this morning. This after enjoying short ribs at David's Club the night before. Folks that came in for golf were excited. All around an experience to repeat.

Golf season is in full swing at Champion's Gate Golf and Country. Such a great facility. We had a nice time attending the Jim Thorpe Elite invitation this February- hosted by Coca Cola of central Florida.

I’d actually give it somewhere between 3.5-4 stars. Admittedly l was expecting more with the fees and the reviews. I was immediately greeted by staff at the bag drop. Driving range was nice (no mats) and balls included. No putting green was available, under repair. The cart initially appeared nice. GPS and USB outlets, but then l actually drove it. It sputtered and couldn’t get out of its own way. When l returned l told a staff member. He told me sometimes you have to turn it off, pump it 5-6 times, turn it back off, flick it back and forth from forward to reverse. Really…? The course - some of the tee boxes were actually burnt. And as a lefty l felt like the ball was usually above my feet an inch or two. The fairways were in good shape, though some non-fairway patches of grass were present. They’re also very wide. Obviously they want to keep the herds moving. There was rough, but it was very non-penal. It was only about 1/2 inch higher than the fairways. It actually even gave you a good lie, because the ball sat up. The greens were smooth and true, but rolled slow to medium at best. All in all, I’m glad l did not pay the prime time rate. I never felt like there was a single hole that made you go wow. It was visually unstimulating.

We played in April 2019 and played the twilight rate about $75 for 18 holes riding.
I will be back up north on the 8th next month. For greens fees try golfnow.com. cart is included. Not sure about club rental.
Yes, the drivung orange is fantástic. If you buy a round, you can hit balls free. If you want use the driving range only, the fare is $20.- with unlimited balls
