If you have to be stuck in traffic / draw bridge opening, this is a great view worth the wait.

I've crossed it and worked on it many times. It opens and closes too slowly. The original design was probably better. The most irritating little fact that most people don't even realize,, is that the longest, slowest, openings (and typically a couple time's a week) are for SUBMARINES!!! Yep traffic gets stopped land jammed up regularly because somebody in the BAD Washington says you can't drive a submarine under a bridge.!!!

Grew up here and lived here the majority of my life and I have never seen it this bad. Considering this is the main artery to and from the Olympic Peninsula, there needs to be a bigger bridge and wider highway to accommodate the volume of traffic. Summer months are horrendous and completely insane. Inslee is an incompetent idiot.

If this awesome bridge didn't exsist it would take me 1.5 hours to get back and forth to work each day. It does it's job without complaint. So when you're sitting in traffic waiting for it to allow car traffic remember, it's doing it's job

I recommend getting the WSDOT app for your phone for up-to-date information, though at the moment it does appear to be closed.
We were told it closed around 2:45pm again. My in-laws we're heading back home and just barely got caught for the closure.
Wow, yes I agree. As a veteran that is disappointing...
When it closes it is only closed for around 15 minutes max. Unless something extreme happens.
When winds hold 40 miles per hour or more consistent for 15 minutes they close bridge to relieve pressure. Wind has to subside.
No. It's in use. They close when ships cross.
I would call them. I don't know.
Here is a link that I found on your question. https://www.historylink.org/File/5501
Always ck the WA state rd closures on the states web sight to be sure if the bridge is open or closed
Open
Depends on how long the high winds last. You can check on Washington DOT.
Check on the WA DOT sight best place to get up to date info. You can drive around by going towards Shelton and heading north if you need to get there today.
They usually have intermittent closure s at night
Check the web sight for openings and closures. It's generally open 24/7 but may close for repairs or temporary boat traffic.
It was in August 28-30th.
You can look one the Washington State Department of transportation for construction or scheduled closures. However you will not find maritime closers anywhere because it varies. So check the Web site above for more information.
Only when it's open or is it only open when it's closed
This is the hood canal bridge
No, 10:00 p.m. opening
Appears to be closed as to say it is open. Best results confer with the WASHDOT website
It should always be open unless a boat or sub is coming through
The bridge was probably open which made it actually closed, or was it closed so it could open?
Supposed to be open confirm it on the washdot website
It depends on the amount of traffic that going through the bridge or the maintenance that is occurring. Go to the washdot website for information on the bridge
Most likely
Think of this as jeopardy please form your answer in the form of a question thank you?
Add wsdot app and they give up to the minute info. Washington Dept. Of Transportation gives info a lot of times
Usually 20 minutes or so
Have no idea that's why they call it intermittent closures
